"I should not. You're cheating right now." * * * "Uh-huh. You should feel special; I don't promise to avoid accidents for just anyone."
He pursed his lips. "Are you enjoying your food?" * * * Val turned up the music and hummed lightly under her breath. "Remember those walls I built..."
She laughed. "Are you enjoying the change of subject?" *** He glanced at her, a small grin on his face.
"Loving it," he replied flatly. * * * She glanced back at him, her eyes tracing his features. "'Cause baby they're tumbling down.."
She smiled at him, folding her hands. "I am enjoying it, by the way." *** He raised an eyebrow, a grin forming.
He cocked his head almost shyly, cleaning his glasses nervously. "Oh? That's good. That's really good. I am too." * * * She laughed lightly, shaking her head as they pulled into the parking space of the hotel, coming to a full stop. She turned to look at him, her brow raised skeptically. "They didn't even put up a fight... They didn't even make a sound."
She pursed her lips. "Can I try on your glasses?" *** He was hesitant, looking at her nervously before he mustered the courage to lean forward and kiss her.
He squinted at her. "You're going to keep them." * * * She gasped slightly, her hand curled on his chest. She paused for a moment before kissing him back, her fingers brushing through his hair. Eventually, though, she pushed him back slightly, watching him with wide eyes. "Landon..."
She shook her head. "No I won't." *** He blinked before flustering with a frightened look. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry!"
He sighed before passing them over to her. "Please don't break them." * * * "No, don't be sorry," she murmured cautiously, wrapping her coat tighter around her. "You're... Don't be sorry."
He rolled his eyes. “Yeah. I know. I’m blind.” *** She bit her lip before speaking in one big burst. “I’m sorry. I just... I don’t want to be in a relationship with someone because a machine on my wrist says that I should. It just... it feels wrong.”
“You’d be the first,” he replied wryly. * * * “I’m sorry,” she said quietly, kissing his cheek. “I really, really do like you. But...”
She grinned at him, leaning closer we he could see her. "How do I look?" *** He seemed surprised, but looked at her. "I know.."
He squinted, tilting his head. “Blurry.” *** She sighed, obviously conflicted, before she opened her car door. “Come on. Let’s go in.”
"Good enough," she laughed, taking them off and putting them back on him carefully. *** "Yeah. Let's."
“I’m sorry; I’m sure you looked cute, but I couldn’t tell.” *** Val locked the car door and started walking, her arms crossed awkwardly in front of her chest.
