He raised his hands. "Oh, I don't have to. I wouldn't want to be a burden." *** She smiled at him. "Hopefully it was all cleared up."
“Well, you'd have to split the rent with me and everything. But I wouldn’t mind being roommates with you.” *** He shrugged slightly as he started the car. “Eh... the parents wanted to know why I was teaching about cannibalism.”
She smirked and ran her fingers through her hair. “Just so long as you don’t try to kiss me again.” *** “Well, I did explain cannabalism to them. But in my defense, they asked.”
She laughed slightly as they stepped into the freezing morning air. “That’s what you said last time.” *** “They asked!”
“Lies and slander, Landon,” she said wryly, putting her hands in her pockets. *** “My job is to educate, Callie, not to encourage ignorance.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Pardon?” *** He smirked, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. “Tomorrow I’m teaching them about cults!”
She raised an eyebrow. “Pardon?” *** He smirked, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. “Tomorrow I’m teaching them about cults!”
“I wouldn’t have done that. And besides, this morning you insisted that you wanted to hug me in your sleep.” *** “Exactly. It’s a secret lesson.”
She chuckled slightly. “And that’s very cute. But you seem to like hugging me in particular.” *** “No,“ he corrected. “I’m just a great teacher.“
She raised a delicate eyebrow. “I am not short!” *** “And a very open-minded one, at that. How many other teachers do you know would get their students to participate in a sacrifice?”
