Landon grinned, offering the cat to her. He didn't seem to mind. "I have to find Nacho." *** "Which is that?"
Val cradled the cat, holding him carefully. "I forgot that there's two!" * * * "I wouldn't know. Should we ask?"
He grinned before heading to another room. There was slight shuffling and a hiss. *** She nodded. "We must!"
Val glanced up from Jellybean. "You okay in there?" * * * He paused, looking up at the people in awe. "But... those are the legendary seal masters."
Landon emerged, a small scratch on his face, carrying an orange cat that looked annoyed. "He was sleeping." *** "Right. You should talk to them."
He grinned. "I'm alright," he said brightly, holding up the now content cat. "He's okay.' *** "No you!"
She lightly touched the scratch on his face and frowned. "We should disinfect that," she murmured. * * * "Well, one of us has to do it."
She kissed his cheek. "Hm. I'm going to clean it when we get back. Do you need anything else?" * * * "Why can't you do it?"
She grinned, cradling Jellybean in her arms. "Then let us flee!" * * * "So am I. What if we just don't ask?"
He nodded, Nacho in one arm with the food bowl. He went to the door, key in hand. *** She frowned. "I guess that could work."
She followed him, cooing to the cat. "Who's a good cat? You're a good cat!" * * * "The mystery dies with this day."
He raised an eyebrow, stepping out. "You're ridiculous." *** She pursed her lips. "That was anticlimactic."
"No. What's ridiculous is how good this cat is," she replied, following. * * * "Oh, I don't know. I almost prefer this. Like closing a door softly rather than slamming it closed."
The cat yawned, his tail swishing. Landon pursed his lips. "You like him more than me." *** She laughed. "I guess so."
She laughed, a surprisingly warm noise. "Perhaps, but that's less of a comment on you and more of a comment on how much I like this cat. I like you quite a bit." * * * "Although, our plans have noticeably downgraded. I mean, we went from stealing the seal to leaving with dignity."
