“That’s not true. I am terrifying!” *** He backed away before sprinting for the bathroom to lock the door.
"Why not both?" *** She did not move fast enough, and glared at the locked door. "I can wait, you know!"
She grinned before leaning down to kiss him, her hand on either side of his face. * * * "I could call the police."
"I love you," she replied quietly, her thumb brushing his cheekbone as she observed him thoughtfully. "Despite my best intentions." *** "I'll do it. You're threatening me."
She sighed, turning to lie on her back. "Now you're just being cruel." * * * "At least then I'll be safe."
He leaned over to kiss her. "Sorry." *** She huffed, and there was shuffling noises that faded until the front door shut.
Her hand curled against his chest and she laughed lightly. "No, you're not." * * * He was quiet for a moment. "I know you're still out there."
