She turned to kiss him. "I'll be honest about serious things. I promise."
“A promise? You know if you break that promise then you’re lying, right?”
She nodded. "I know."
“I’ll be heartbroken if you lie to me.”
"I won't lie about important stuff."
“Who gets to decide what’s important? You?”
"Both? I know what's important, Arlo."
“You know what’s important to you.”
"Then tell me when something is important to you."
He pursed his lips. “Education.”
"I'll take it seriously, then."
"Dogs."
"Hmm.."
"See? You shouldn't be allowed to decide what is important."
"I should 100% decide."
"Your response to dogs was 'Hmm.'"
"Dancing with dogs is not serious."
"Excuse you. It is the most serious thing."
"Well, then I suppose I'll take it seriously."
