"He would never be so cruel." * * * Val was asleep next to him, her black hair tossed haphazardly across the black pillow. Her face was surprisingly gentle in sleep and she turned her face into the mattress.
She pulled the dog from the tub. "We'll see.." *** He smiled warmly, before kissing her temple. "Baby?" he murmured quietly. "You awake, beautiful?"
The dog looked up at them with a grin before shaking furiously. * * * She shifted, her arms sliding over to wrap around his waist. "What did you call me?" she asked, a slight tone of amusement in her sleepy voice.
He gasped, cleaning off his glasses. "He's evil." * * * Her eyes were the color of springtime and she peered at him, a small smirk on her face. "Don't worry, handsome."
"No, I told you. Remember I said that thing about the darkness in his heart?" * * * She paused before reaching up and giving him a kiss, her actions gentle. "Don't be embarrassed."
"That's evil. He's evil." * * * A rare flush tinged her cheeks and she cleared her throat, looking down self consciously.
"He shook and sprayed us all!" * * * She was quiet for a moment before sliding her arms around his neck in an embrace. "You need to stop that."
"I was full of love for him at first." * * * She sighed, tilting her head slightly. "So, you need to stop."
"No he doesn't!" she replied, standing up and heading into the other room to drag the dog bed into the bedroom, calling to him. "You're just mean!" *** He sighed, trailing kissed along her jawline. "Fine.."
He sighed dramatically. "Our first fight is over Nugget." * * * She closed her eyes, leaning into his touch, her fingers in his hair. "You're... shameless. You know that?"
