"Oh God, we totally have to do this now."

"Me? Safety is always my number one priority."

 

"Everyone in the entire world is invited."

She noticed his expression and held his jaw in her hand for a moment before pulling away, wrapping the scarf around her.

 

"I think it's not enough."

"I'm... really not sure. I'll be as fast as I can though, okay?"

 

"I'm not. It's all Nugget's friends."

* * *

"Don't worry," she said, giving him a smile. "Try to distract yourself."

 

He gasped.

"How dare you, madam! Nugget has all the friends!"

"Yeah, do that. My carpenter."

 

"Look at him. He's so hurt."

"For you, baby? Anything," she said, heading for the door.

 

"I can read that dog like a book."

She glanced back at the door, giving him a rare, sweet smile, before leaving the apartment, closing the door behind her.

 

"He is, but I still love him. That's a good compromise, don't you think?"

 

He grinned, rubbing Nugget's belly.

"So... when are we getting the next one?"
