Val was at the table, her face lit up by the glow of her screen. She didn't seem to notice his awakening, tugging hair loose from her braid as her brows furrowed in concentration. The strap of her tank top had slid off her shoulder and there was a red spot against her pale skin from when she had repeatedly rubbed her neck thoughtfully. There was a mug of cold, black coffee next to her and her fingernails made slight tapping noises against the keyboard as she worked. * * * "Uh huh. Obviously not."
Landon stood quietly, checking the time before approaching her. Her wrapped his arms around her shoulders, fixing the strap of her tank top. "I have to go soon." *** "Definitely not. Even though you are incredibly cute."
She blinked and turned her head when he came up turned her, obviously pulled out of her concentration. The screen showed several different tabs open, with a large document that was about fifteen pages long in the front. Some of his pictures were also pulled up along with dozens of webpages of research. "That's a shame," she said quietly, kissing his cheek. * * * He flushed deeply, clearing his throat as he focused on his work. "Ahem."
"What? Oh, right. Yeah. I was trying to get a format going, but I kind of gave up and just kept writing." * * * "You're trying to make me blush. It won't work."
"I shall sue you for using pictures without credit," he teased. *** She kissed him deeply. "I really love you."
"Who said I wasn't going to credit you?" she asked, tilting her head back to look at him. "We're on a job together." * * * He frowned, one hand still on her arm and the other on her neck. "Are my arm massages that good?"
She gave him a slight smile before rubbing her eyes. "Want to order takeout?" * * "Can't you see my blush?"
"Cool," she said easily, standing up and stretching. "When do you have to leave?" * * * "Even this much is an achievement."
She pursed her lips, cocking her head. "We can wait until you get home, then. I don't think you'll have enough time to eat if we leave now." * * * He sighed, pulling away slightly. "Let's start unpacking your stuff, okay?"
"Well, I don't want you to wait to eat because of me.. It could take awhile." *** She groaned. "Fiiiine."
She gave him a small smile, closing her laptop. "I'll wait. Don't worry." * * * "It's just a necessity. We'll get it done."
