She took a deep breath, her hands shaky. She took a moment before sitting on the edge of her bed and put her head in her hands. * * * "I'm not that much of a nerd."
He went to his room, shutting the door behind him. He went to his bed, unsure what else to do. *** "Neeeerd."
Late that night, Val sat up in her bed, her brow furrowed as she took a deep breath, slipping out of the warm sheets. * * * "I'm not! I'm just a teacher! There's a difference!"
She opened his door slowly before moving forward, slowly slipping into bed next to him. * * * He hesitated before sighing, nodding. "That'll work."
She hesitated before wrapping her arms around his waist. "I love you," she whispered quietly, resting her head against his back. "I'm sorry."
She was quiet for a moment, fiddling with her hair. "I just... I really love you, you know? And... like... weddings are stupid and love is stupid and all that stuff, but for some reason..." She swallowed before sighing. "I don't know. They just... the idea of them didn't feel so stupid with you." * * * "You're really running for the hills with this one, aren't you?"
She pulled away, sitting up, clearly embarrassed. "Sorry, sorry. Sorry. I'll just, uh... I'll just, you know, head back to my room." * * * "No. That doesn't count."
"God, this is embarrassing," she muttered, standing up. "I'll, uh... see you tomorrow. Sorry. *squee!*. Sorry." * * * "Is it really fair that you can call me dork and I get to call you Callie?"
She looked down at him, tugging on her long, black hair hesitantly. "Are we going to talk about feelings?" * * * "That's not fair and you know it, Cal."
