Something in her face faltered and she looked down at the ground, pursing her lips as she hurriedly tried to swallow the lump in her throat. “Uh... no. I just don’t want anyone recognizing me and making it worse for you.” *** He gasped, nudging her playfully. “Callie!”
He hesitated. "I see.. You'll come back some time, right?" *** She chuckled, wrapping her arms around him. "You're alive!"
“Of course,” she said quickly, her gaze flickering up to his. “Of course I will.” *** He groaned and fell backwards, holding Callie in his arms, and Nugget yipped in surpised. “You killed me.”
He looked to the ceiling. "Alright.. Thank you." *** She laughed brightly, resting her head on his chest. "Nooo!"
She stopped at the door, looking back at him hesitantly, before she sighed and shook her head. “Ugh. I’m sorry... I can’t leave you here by yourself.” *** “Dead.”
“I’m being selfish,” she said quietly, sitting next to him. “I can’t just leave you.” *** “Nope. It’s too late.”
She sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. “So, besides from the obvious, how have you been?” *** “Everything is numb.”
"Fine," he replied, his tone alnost defensive. *** She rested her head on his chest. "I will never forget you."
