He awoke awhile later, his brows furrowed. *** Her fingers brushed his jaw, and she pulled away after a moment. "Hm?"
Val was still asleep next to him, dark circles under her eyes. * * "You did it," he murmured. "You saved me."
He watched her lovingly. His fingers brushed her cheek. *** She kissed him again, a soft sigh escaping her.
She woke up slowly, gradually becoming aware of the hand on her cheek. "...Landon?" * * * "I love you too."
He panicked, pulling away quickly. "I'm sorry!" *** She gave him one last lingering kiss before pulling away and standing up.
Her eyes fluttered open and her gaze flickered to his before she sat up, shaking her head. "Don't be sorry," she said quietly. "I missed it." * * * "Aw," he complained, shaking his head. "I feel so alone now."
"Val.." He started, looking nervous. "..Could we give us another chance?" *** She offered her hand. "C'mon."
She didn't meet his gaze, looking at the ground. "I'm really scared," she told him eventually, her voice quiet. "I'm really scared that I'm going to *squee!* things up here because I'm not good at commitment, or because I get panicky if people love me too much, or because I never thought I would marry someone."
"Val, it's okay." His voice was soft. "I'll be there for you no matter what happens, okay? You'll be alright."
"What if I hurt you too much because I can't handle a dedicated relationship?" she said, obviously distressed. "I mean, I'm obviously bad at commitment." * * * "Nooo.... Callie...'
"Don't worry, Val. I'll be okay. I'll always be okay." *** She huffed, before sitting next to him again. "Fiiine."
"Well.. I'm willing to take it however you give it, Val. Even if it means waiting a bit." *** "I don't have a problem with that."
