"Well, the nurse is going to come in for a final report," she said, rubbing the back of her neck. "We should be able to go after that." ** * "I thought you were happy about that?"
She brushed his hair off his forehead. "Yeah. This place gives me the creeps." * * * He released her, sighing dramatically. "Fine."
“We should go as quickly as possible,” she said, looking around anxiously. *** He squinted out of her grip. “Leave me alone to die.”
He squeezed her hand. "It'll be okay." *** She frowned, but persisted, moving to kiss his temple. "I love youuu."
She nodded slowly, looking around nervously. “I’m sorry. I’m being selfish.” *** He folded his arms and turned away from her, curling up in a small ball.
"You're fine, Val." *** She got up after a moment, before returning with a blanket. She laid it over him before resting back down again.
"I'm glad I'm with you." *** She wrapped her arms around his torso from behind, resting her forehead against his back. "I love you."
She gave him a hesitant smile, squeezing his hand. “I... God. I was really worried about you.” *** He was silent for a moment. “So you’ve come crawling back, huh?”
"I had to. I couldn't just leave you." * * * He grinned before turning quickly and pulling her into his arms. "Great!"
She brushed his hair out of his face as the nurse bustled in. "Well, you're free to go, Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes. All your signs all check out." * * * "Me? Never."
