Val unlocked the apartment door, nudging it open with her hip. The cats approached them, their eyes almost glowing in the dark, and Val picked up the nearest one, who happened to be Jellybean. "Hello, cat." * * * "Don't apologize. You loving me is a privilege."
"They missed you," she said quietly, putting down her bag and turning to him. "I mean, as much as cats can miss someone." * * * "Hmph. So I guess we're both lucky?"
