Back at it Again (One-on-One)

The cat curled up on her lap, and Val frowned.

"Could you take Mo, please?"

 

She frowned.

"He probably doesn't. But I need to put my computer down."

 

The cat eyed him suspiciously.

 

The cat groaned, and his pupils grew as he was picked up, but he didn't attack. Not yet.

 

Val sighed and nudged the cat into his lap.

"You just have to pet him between the shoulder blades," she said. "He'll be your friend in no time."

 

The cat glared at him before settling in his lap, leaning into his touch.

Val, meanwhile, had been opening up various programs, frowning slightly.

 

"It's a little tricky," she replied, tugging on a lock of hair distractedly. "It's a pretty advanced program."

 

"If I can hack it, then I'll be pretty good," she replied, frowning. "I don't know if I can do that yet, though."

 

She frowned, tapping a few more keys.

"We'll see."

 

"He's really not," she agreed. "He just doesn't like new people."
