"It probably does," she said sharply, glaring at Arlo. "My guess is that they thought Callie was me."
"I don't know," she said flatly, still glaring at Arlo. "I'd imagine they've either taken her to the warehouse or the hospital."
Her expression softened slightly and she glanced up at him for a moment. “Fine,” she said eventually. “But I want you to stay here. You’re hurt.”
She nodded slowly before she glanced back at Arlo, a look of hatred in her eyes. “I’m not doing this for you,” she told him sternly, “and I’m not doing it for her. I’m only doing it for him. Understand?” Arlo nodded slowly and stepped back. “I’ll wait outside.”
“You do that,” Val said sharply. After he left, she turned to Landon and rested a hand on his face. “I’ll be back soon, okay?”
He sighed, looking nervous as he rested his hand over hers. "If anything happens at all, please call me."
She hesitated before giving him a loving smile, kissing the cheek that her hand wasn't resting on. "You know that even if I say that I will, I probably won't, right?"
