She pursed her lips, turning away. * * * The dog barked and stood on his hind legs, resting his front paws on Arlo's legs.
"I'm going to go to bed," she said after a moment. * * * "No, don't!" Nugget tried to lick Arlo's shirt.
She scoffed, although it sounded like there was a lump in her throat. "Right. Of course you are." * * * "No! He's killing me!"
She looked up with a frown before going to the bedside table. She dipped in her fingers in the water glass and tapped them on her cheekbones, letting her mascara run before looking outside her room, sniffling slightly.
Landon had returned late that night, and ended up falling asleep on the couch in the clothes he wore the day before. He had set out items on the counter meticulously. It consisted of three roses, a small stuffed animal that looked like Mo, and note that simply said "I'm sorry."
She came out to the living room and noticed the action. She paused before her eyes widened and she came around the couch to hug him, wrapping her arms around him.
