Back at it Again (One-on-One)

"Sure," she said, clearing her plate. "You'll tell me?"

 

She nodded slowly, her green eyes thoughtful.

"I doubt Francis will call us when... if she wakes up."

 

"We're the reason his wife is in the hospital. I think he'd be happy to never see us again."

 

"Hopefully that won't be the case," Val allowed. "I guess we'll just have to wait."

 

She returned to the couch, slumping slightly before opening her laptop and typing in a few commands.

 

"I have to save these to my computer before getting out of their system," she said. "I don't want them to know I was in here."

 

"Alright," she said, not looking up. "Take care of yourself, yeah?"

 

Val waved one hand in farewell, but kept scrolling through the computer.

 

Val looked up only when he closed the door behind him. She watched for a long time before sighing and returning to her work.
