Back at it Again (One-on-One)

"Calling me a master at something. That's flattery."

 

She gave him a small smile before raising a finger to her lips.

A few moments later, a man walked in and looked around before resting his hand on the door. It beeped lightly and slid out of the way, revealing a dark hallway. The man went in and Val grabbed Landon's arm.

"Come on, let's go!"

 

They managed to slip into the hallway before the door closed behind them, submerging them in darkness.

 

He would hear her voice whispering in his ear.

"Duck."

 

There came the sound of a scuffle, and a small grunt of surprise. Finally, a flashlight turned on and her green eyes, almost catlike in the gloom, peered at him.

 

"We weren't alone," she said smoothly. "Come on."

 

"Watch your step," was all she said, continuing down the dark hallway.

 

She managed a small smile.

"'I'm not scared of you,' he says."

 

"Oh, come now, Landon. You're terrified of me."

 

"Hmm," she said. "What if I were to promise to jumpscare you? Would you be scared?"
