No. It really wasn't. It was a horrible thing. Just like Christopher Colombus. Why the hell do we celebrate him, anyways?
Who's Holy Land? They were a group of Catholics going after a group of Muslims living in a city sacred to the Jews.
This is a sensitive post. Don't read it if you're easily offended. Alright. I'll say it. I've seen the logic that "it would be fair and good if there were optional classes for all religions". But what of the darker followings, namely Satanism? Worry not, I'm Agnostic, so I'm not here to eat your soul (I'm just an advocate for true equality. Most Satanists aren't gonna eat your soul either, by the way.) Satanic followers are by all means a member of a religion. They follow an idol that they embrace with their inner being and they pay tribute and worship to said idol. They have churches, religious texts, and everything other religions have except approval. And why? I say if Satanists want to follow their religion, they should be able to, and they should have a voice in things like this. After all, It's their choice. If this post is too sensitive or enraging, remove it. I just wanted to make sure ALL aspects were covered. It wasn't meant to offend, just to bring up the question "can this ideal work in a fair way, now that we all know the religious world doesn't?" Some of my friends are Satanists. If religion were mixed with school, they'd be angry. So I just wanted to speak for them. Sorry if this offended anyone, truly, and please take it down if It's not "appropriate", I know this is a dodgy topic...just don't ban me for trying to make sure we know just how much this could change...
You're fine, Pinks. Another topic I want to mention, is the fact that if optional classes of all religions will probably make all the Christian soccer moms all booty-bothered. They'd probably throw tantrums and put us back to the point that we are now.
What? No! The Christian soccer moms would welcome my Satanism classes with open arms and tears of joy! Seriously, you make a valid point. I'm hoping I did too.
I don't care about other religions. I'm from Quebec, we welcome any and every religions to our province. We adapt to any and every religions, and give more rights to every other religions over Christians. My position here is; i like other cultures and religions! But please, adapt to our country except of making your laws everywhere! And now that i'm in Cegep, i don't care much about seeing bibles or religious books; in fact, i have to study them in some classes...
I saw a news report that a school in the state of Maine wanted to teach the history of the bible. The class itself wouldn't be a required class and would simply teach how the bible and religion itself has shaped the world. I honestly have no problem with this because it isn't fully promoting religion instead it's just teaching of it's history.
