"Um, I was delirious," Discord offered, sweating. "Are you sure I wasn't talking about the sun?" He laughed nervously.
"You looked right at me, and called me son..I want to know what you meant! If you know something I don't, I feel I deserve to know the truth!"
"I-" Discord recoiled a little at the tone of Frozen's voice. He sighed and sat on the edge of the bed. "Frozen. I am your Father." He braced himself for the sorrow and rage he felt sure must be coming...
Frozen's eyes teared up and he lunged forward, throwing his arms around him. "I knew it," he said, "Somehow I have always known there was a reason I was drawn to you. I don't know how this is true, but I can feel it in my heart and soul!" Frozen wept softly into his shoulder, "I have a family..I'm not alone any more.."
"Why would I be? For years I have suffered from the shame that the stallion I thought was my father turned me out and abandoned me. Knowing this makes that easier to bear. My father didn't abandon me, he just couldn't find me.."
"Well, I have been encased in stone for most of your life, but lately I have been feeling somewhat.... guilty; would you call it? It is a new feeling and not one I care for. But although I have had no involvement in you becoming the stallion you are, I think I have also felt pride." Discord admitted, welling up himself.
"Ahem" Discord coughed, wiping his eyes, "I, uh, you're welcome." He said, patting Frozen on the back awkwardly. This was not something he was experienced in. "So, you defeated Arzeroth then? Good for you!" He said, trying to steer the conversation in a direction he was more comfortable with.
Frozen pulled away a bit and nodded, "I did, he said, "I had to. It wasn't easy, but I was enraged at what he did to you."
"To me?" Discord looked at his shoulder and flexed it a little. "Ah, it was only a flesh wound!" He said, grinning. "It's certainly nothing compared to what he's put all these others through; compared to what he put Xarame and Met through," He added, more sombrely. "I think we're actually doing good here, Frozen."
Frozen nodded, "I did it for her, too," he said. He didn't specify, but felt it wasn't necessary. "So, what now?" He asked.
"Well, I'd say we have undisputed control over this region now, but that means we've still got three to go. I suppose we had better start coming up with a plan for liberating them." As he said it, it dawned on Discord just how much work they had still to do, and he realized just how exhausted he was already. He was glad to have his frie- his son to help him carry the burden.
"We should," he agreed, "and soon. I suppose the next course of action woukd be to attack Mauron, lady of the East. She won't be an easy opponent."
(Please tell me Mauron is going to be a cross between Sauron and Maud Pie XD ) Discord nodded. "We may have a new weapon in our arsenal now however; the Changelings. Now that Arzeroth's curse has been lifted, Met seems to be regaining her connection with the rest of her hive; she may soon be able to contact those Changelings still trapped in the other strongholds. If so, we may have ourselves a de facto spy army, already embedded in our enemies ranks."
(She is now lol) Frozen grinned a bit, and nodded, "We should include her in the planning then,:" he said.
"Yes, I believe we owe her that much anyway; she is a Queen after all." Discord said, nodding. "However, she's resting now, so I suppose we'll have to postpone our planning." He paused and looked at Frozen. "You know, I'm surprised; Gladdened as I am by your reaction to the news, I'd have thought you'd have been more curious as to how exactly I came to be your Sire."
"I am," he said, "though my 'father' made it a point to inform me I was found on the castle doorstep as a colt and that he wished he had asked the servants to leave me in the cold."
Discord looked troubled. "I'm sorry, I don't know anything about that. I can only imagine she discovered her mistake and panicked..." He stroked his goatee in thought. "Hmm, I suppose I should start from the beginning." Discord conjured himself a dressing gown, pipe and a wingback chair; he felt it suited the moment. "As you know, you were born around a century and a half after I was first imprisoned in my stony cell, but what most ponies don't know, is that my imprisonment was not without it's intermissions; every now and then, enough disharmony and strife would be present to allow me my freedom. It was on one such occasion that I managed to escape Canterlot entirely, fleeing to the North in search of sanctuary. Instead I found Snowdrift. My powers had not yet fully returned, and I was forced to disguise myself to avoid detection; I was not so hated by the Windigos as I was by the Ponyfolk, but I was not well loved either. In short order, a combination of arrogance and my ignorance of Windigo customs shortly lead me to an altercation I was not prepared to handle; I was set upon by a group of angry stallions, and was left lying in the gutter, thoroughly deflated. That was where she found me." He paused and looked at Frozen, to check he was still with him.
