"Survive," he said, as he watched the distant shadows twisting and turning. The denizens of this realm were privy to their presence, they would need a shelter if they wanted to last very long.
"As it happens, that's one of my favourite pastimes. We could take shelter in that," Discord said, pointing at a blackened ruin of a tower. "Although, in this realm, that might be considered a prime piece of real estate..."
Frozen chuckled, "On that note, let's make certain it isn't still occupied. Be on your guard." Frozen motioned for the draconicus to follow him as he slowly approached the tower.
Discord shook his head. "Don't you mean, stay frosty?" He chuckled as he donned his finest black sneaking turtleneck and followed Frozen to the tower in his sneakiest manner. (Don't mean to be pedantic, but it's Draconequus.)
(oh no worries, I don't mind the correction. I was unsure of the proper spelling!)) Frozen chuckled dryly. The two approached the ruined tour as quietly as possible. Frozen was first to approach, and he peered into the pitch black maw of the open door for a few minutes before he nodded, "Nothing so far. Got a light?"
Discord looked at Frozen quizzically. "You don't smoke do you? Oh, you mean to see with. Oh. How's this?" He tapped Frozen on the back of the head, causing his eyes to glow and hopefully bestowing night vision.
"My pleasure. Now, please tell me if it's safe for us to enter this hovel; the anticipation's killing me." Discord replied, somewhat flatly.
Frozen took note of the undisturbed dust coating the vast library, that constituted the first floor. He nodded, turning back to Discord, "No one has been here for a very long time. There are sconces upon the wall, so if you know fire magic we can light up the room."
Discord walked into the room and looked around. "I could, but would that be wise? These... beings you're so keen to evade, wouldn't they notice the light?"
"Ponies fear us for a reason you know," Discord said, dusting off a rickety three-legged chair and joining Frozen at the table. "We're not helpless foals; we're powerful and resourceful entities." He shot a questioning look at Frozen. "Or is that just me?"
Frozen chuckled a bit, "Flattery will get you everywhere," he said, "But yes, to an extent we are. Do not get overly confident; there are things in this world that could easily rend us apart. They have been here a millenia or more and have had time to allow their hatred to make them grow stronger. They are to be avoided, and are the reason I have been avoiding the use of much magic."
"Overly confident? Moi?" Discord touched his chest and looked hurt. "Though maybe you have a point; looking back, underestimating my opponents has always been my downfall. I should probably learn something from that..." He shook his head. "Anyway, are you saying they can track magic? Because if that's the case we may have an advantage; no-one, not even Celestia herself, has been able to track or even sense my particular brand of magic; it's too chaotic, or so I'm told. Now I can't seem to affect anything in this realm, but I can still bring things into it, and that, combined with your knowledge of this place, may just steer us safely through this thing." He lent back in his chair. "So smile!" The chair fell over backwards.
Frozen chuckled softly, when he fell out of the chair. "If your hypothesis proves correct, and I sincerely pray it does, then we may yet have a chance." He sighed a bit, his mentioning of the princess got him thinking about her. "I wonder if I'll ever get to meet her.."
Discord looked up confusedly at Frozen from his new position on the floor. "Meet who?" He rolled his eyes as he realised who he'd meant. "Celestia? look, if we get out of here I'll try and set up a meeting or something." He threw the three legged chair away and summoned an elaborate high-backed dining chair, settling himself at the table once more. "Uh, actually, on second thought, introducing yourself to her as my friend might not be the best start."
Frozen chuckled softly, "I doubt that would hurt my reputation much," he said, "I am an ancient demonic ice pony after all."
"Ancient? Pfft, please; I was reaping chaos before you were a glimmer in your father's eye. Or maybe that was the chaos..." Discord said, grinning mischievously.
Frozen thought for a moment, "Wait..a self-aware Windigo would be chaotic.." He scratched his chin in thought, "What were you doing 800 years ago?"
Discord feigned forgetfulness. "Oh, I can't seem to remember, perhaps it'll come back to me at some point." "So," He said, suddenly in a General's uniform, "What's our battle plan here? Do you have any idea of the layout of this place? Any landmarks we should be moving towards?"
