He laughed lowly, beginning to put the ring of rocks around the pit. "Maybe not, but you did. It's alright."
He raised an eyebrow, looking up at her curiously. "Blaisey, I think you're wonderful and I am ridiculously attracted to you," he said, tilting his head. "I only ask that we take it slowly. That's all. You don't need to worry."
He nodded amiably, standing up and going over to pick up the wood she had gathered. "Excellent. That's good to hear. Are you hungry?"
"Me too," he confirmed, coming back and setting the wood in the fire pit, starting to light a fire. "I have food to make in my bag. Could you grab it for me? It's in the tent."
He took it from her with a bright grin and a murmur of thanks and began to pull out a few small containers of food, setting to the side as he continued to work on getting the fire going. Eventually, he coaxed a small blaze from the pit and began to set it out for them. "What are you thinking about?"
She pulled her knees to her chest, looking up at him. "That I'm happy to be here," she said, before pausing. Her voice hinted at embarrassment as she spoke a little softer. "And.. I appreciate you."
He looked over at her thoughtfully as he put some root vegetables into the fire, roasting them. "I appreciate you too, Blaise," he replied, leaning back on his hands for a moment. "Why are you embarrassed?"
He laughed in surprise. His laugh, like his voice, was deep and warm, although a little rough around the edges. "You're so cute," he said, shaking his head. "Come here." He opened an arm to her invitingly.
He kissed the top of her head, continuing to prepare the food with his free hand. “You should feel relaxed. This is supposed to be fun for you.”
