He nodded before straightening up. “Alright, then. Meeting adjourned.” He turned and left the room, intending to return to his office.
Blaise looked over at Ellis thoughtfully. "You're going to have to help me get used to living there." Dion grinned at Aisling. "That was funny." Jaz stood, offering his hand to Lucy. "Well.. Since were moving there for the winter I might want to start moving the winter storage." Rory followed Emerson, touching his shoulder with a frown when they left the room.
“I think you’ll love it,” Ellis replied thoughtfully. “I do.” *** She raised an eyebrow, perhaps pleased with this, but still seemed predominantly irritated with Emerson. “I don’t know what his deal is. He has such a stick up his ass.” *** She took it, raising one eyebrow. “Can I help you?” *** He looked at her and his face softened. “Hi. Are you okay?”
She gave him a small smile. "I'm glad." *** "I thought you'd want to go back to the woods?" he asked curiously. *** He kissed her cheek. "If you'd like to. I think the crates should be transported by car to make it easier." *** She hesitated, looking down briefly before returning his gaze. "I'm not very happy."
He looked down at her thoughtfully. “I’m sorry we’re leaving.” *** “Of course I do. I just don’t think this has to be as big a deal as he’s making it out to be,” she said with a shrug. *** “Yeah, probably. Is there a lot?” *** His face fell and he watched her for a moment. “In your life? With me? With the decision?” he asked, his voice low.
"It's.. Okay. It just makes me nervous." *** He nodded slowly. "I see.. I guess I could understand the hesitance. Some people won't want to leave." *** "Eh.. Sort of. It is the stuff we've saved for winter which is all the clothes, food, blankets.. Stuff like that." *** "I told you the idea of the two clans splitting made me uneasy," she said, watching him. "What's going to happen when Spring comes, Emerson?"
“It shouldn’t. If it’s any consolation, living in the city makes me nervous.” *** “What do you think?” she asked, nudging him gently. “You didn’t say anything.” *** “I see... is there a lot?” *** He was studying her intently, frowning. “We’ll analyze the general feeling of the clan and see if we want to return to the city or not,” he said, sounding confused.
"I wish there was an in between." *** He sighed, leaning against the wall. "I don't know.. I suppose I'm fine with it either way." *** He tilted his head slightly. "Yes." *** "What if the clans split up again?"
“We could live in the ocean,” he suggested playfully. *** “Really?” she asked curiously. “No more sleeping on the roofs.” *** She gave him a small grin and took his hand, kissing his cheek. “Cool.” *** “I’m not splitting up with you,” he said confusedly. “I wouldn’t let that happen. I’d imagine that groups of people will stay together.”
He grinned. "That would be great." *** He waved it off. "I could still adventure." *** He smiled at her before starting down to storage. *** She still looked stressed, looking at the ground with furrowed brows.
“It would, right? We could be merfolk.” *** She watched him for a moment, her gaze impossible to read. *** She followed, her hand in his. *** He lifted her chin gently with his fingers “Don’t worry, Rory.”
She laughed. "That was your idea? Merfolk?' *** He paused. "What?" *** They made it to the storage room which had crates and sacks with stored items. "We should take these to the main room so they're ready to be moved." *** She relaxed slightly, looking up at him. "Are you sure everything will be okay?"
“I don’t see you proposing a better one.” *** She purses her lips before straightening up from her spot against the wall. “Nothing,” she said smoothly. “I just think you’re ridiculously attractive.” *** “Weren’t you taken off jobs like this?” she asked, picking up the first crate. “I thought Emerson reassigned you to scouting.” *** “No,” he admitted with a small shrug. “But I know that I’m not planning on letting you go too easily, so I’m leading with that.”
"We can live by the sea rather than in it?" *** He flushed slightly. "That's what you were thinking about?" *** "Yes.." he said slowly, " but I still help out." *** She watched him before moving to wrap her arms around him.
“Hm. That might be better. A little dryer.” *** “Yes,” she said primly, heading for the stairs to go up to the roof. “I think you’re really something.” *** “Yes, you do. I love that about you,” she said. “Even though it annoys me.” *** He hugged her back gently, kissing the top of her head. “It’s all good, Rory. Don’t panic.”
"Plus the ocean is cool." *** He followed, his head tilted. "I love you." *** He grinned. "Sorry it annoys you, sort of." *** She nodded. "When are we going to the forest?"
“The forest is cooler, though” *** She looked over her shoulder at him as she climbed the stairs. “I love you too,” she replied, taking the steps two at a time. *** “It’s fine,” she said with a sigh. “I’ll live.” *** “Within the next week, hopefully.”
"Well.. We'll find out about that." *** "Do you want me to come with?" *** He picked up a box with a small smile. *** She sighed. "Okay."
“You don’t trust me?” *** She frowned, climbing the stairs quickly. “I always want you near.” *** She headed for the stairs. “I’ll race you.” *** “I’m heading to the office. Are you coming?”
