She looked thoughtful before nodding. "Totally unkind, super bad... Uh.. Bad." *** "No, I don't know any species," he said, somewhat embarrassed. "Only the color and stuff." *** He lifted the mattress, looking down at her. "Should I take it off?"
He burst into low, warm laughter, his eyes crinkling in delight. "Oh, wow. You're really bad at that." * * * She paused for a moment, her gaze on him thoughtfully, before she gave him a hesitant smile. He would get the impression based on the discomfort of her expression that it wasn't something she did often. "I could teach you," she offered quietly. * * * She looked up at him through the bars of the bed frame in surprise before laughing lightly. "It seems like you already did." Emerson glanced up at them, looking vaguely annoyed.
She glared at him gently. "I don't know what you mean." *** He looked over at her with a tilted. "You think so? Would you look at my collection?" *** Jaz didn't seem to notice Emerson, looking down at her. "Let's look at the frame."
"Of course you don't," he said, looking at her at something that might have been affection. "You're soft, Blaise." * * * "Sure," she said with a small nod. "I had to learn how to track birds when I was learning how to hunt. I could identify them for you." * * * "Alright," she said with a nod, slipping out from under the bed. "Give me a few moments."
She couldn't help but smile again. "Whatever you say, Ellis." *** "Alright. It's back with the clan." *** He nodded, waiting patiently.
He rolled his eyes before stretching his arms. "That's a nice sentence to hear." * * * "Great, but..." She hesitated and he would be able to tell that something was stopping her. "...Cody first?" * * * She moved extremely quickly, her deft fingers testing bolts and bars within seconds. "There. Frame should be good. Drop the mattress, please."
She grinned, folding her arms. "So.. Are you busy after this?" *** He nodded. "We can see Cody." *** He dropped it carefully.
He raised an eyebrow, tilting his head and pointing to the ground. “After this? Standing here and talking to you?” *** She brightened, increasing her pace towards the door. *** There was a soft springing noise, but no more squeaks, and Lucy nodded with satisfaction, slipping out from under the bed. “Great. That just leaves problems from in the mattress.”
She shrugged. "I guess?" *** He followed with a yawn. *** He looked at the mattress with a frown. "Can we even fix that?"
"No, I'm not doing anything," he said with a small shrug. He paused before raising an eyebrow. "Why?" A small smirk crossed his lips. "You asking me out?" * * * "Where is he?" she asked, her voice low. "Is he nearby?" * * * She looked at him in shocked indignation. "Can we fix that? Of course we can. Do we have needle and thread?"
She folded her arms and rolled her eyes before speaking sarcastically. "Yeah, totally." *** He looked around thoughtfully. Inside the floor was green with grass and the ceiling of the building was completely gone, leaving only the walls. There were animal pens built along the sides, keeping in chickens and pigs, mostly. "We'll have to look." *** "I don't.. I don't know how to use them."
He laughed again, shaking his head. "No, I'm not busy. What did you have in mind?" * * * Aisling went quiet, her eyes thoughtful. "There are so many of them." * * * "I can teach you," she said, sitting up. "Let's go find one."
"Just a small adventure?" she asked curiously. "I don't want to stay indoors all day." *** "The clan needs to survive," he said with a simple shrug. "We can't live off a measly garden and any kinds of food are scarce here, so we find ways to manage." *** He nodded, following. "I don't know where they would keep it. Blaise might have one. She sews sometimes."
He nodded with that cheeky grin. "Good idea. What kind of adventure?" ** * Her gaze traveled over them and she nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Everyone in our clan just is content with being vegetarian, but... well, we did live in the forest." * * * "Which one is Blaise?" she asked, looking up at him.
She looked thoughtful. "I'm not sure.. How much of the city have you seen?" *** He looked over at her with raised eyebrows. "But.. That's the best place to raise animals.." *** "Black hair, blue eyes. Look like Dion but a girl."
"Not very much," he admitted. "Why?" * * * "Exactly. Emerson insisted we needed protein, but no one was happy about doing the butchering." * * * "Oh, that one. Yeah, let's go ask her."
"Because then we can find something you haven't seen before," she said with a grin. *** "It's not a pleasant ordeal," he admitted. "Luckily I'm not the one that has to do it." *** "Last I knew she was on the roof doing laundry."
"Alright. Fine. Lead the way," he said, gesturing towards the door. * * * "God. Who has that job?" she asked, looking over at him. * * * "Let's go find her, then," she said.
She nodded, heading out, stretching her arms. *** "No one wants to do it, but Jaz is the only one who offers." *** He nodded, starting up the stairs.
He followed, slipping his hands in his pockets. "What's the plan?" * * * "Jaz..." she said slowly. "That's the big guy, right?" * * * She followed, looking over her shoulders.
