She groaned, trying to catch up. *** "On occasion. If I'm correct, she only speaks to the people inside our clan that she's familiar with."
He slowed down despite the competitiveness of his words, looking over at her. "A steady jog, then?" * * * "I see. What does her voice sound like?"
"Well, if you were to be faster, I wouldn't have to slow down." * * * "Hm. How would you describe your voice?"
"I have shorter legs than you. One of your steps is like two of mine!" *** He seemed confused by this question. "I have.. no idea."
"Then maybe you should grow taller, Ms. Blaise." * * * "I just need something to compare your thought process to," she explained.
"Whatever. Maybe I could ride on your back and see what It's like to have length." *** "It's not a good thought process."
He squinted before stopping and kneeling down in front of her. "Fine." * * * She laughed lightly, shaking her head. "Isn't it?"
He stood up after a moment, starting off again. His hair smelled of something vaguely citrus. Lemongrass, maybe. "How's it feel to be above six feet tall?" * * * She rolled her eyes as they entered the base and she sat in a chair. "Go check on your grandmother."
She grinned. "I'm on top of the world!" *** He nodded, bowing playfully before going into the other room.
He laughed, looking up at her as they approached the entrance. "This is a big deal for you." * * * She rolled her eyes, draping her legs over the side of the chair leisurely.
"It really is. I appreciate this." *** He was gone for a couple of minutes before leaving, a look of panic in his eyes. He dashed across the room, returning moments later with Rory as they went back in.
"I know," he said as they entered the main room. Aisling looked concerned, sitting up slightly in her chair. Ellis noticed and came over to her. "Ash? What's going on?" "I don't know," she said quietly, her brow furrowed. "Dion just went to check on his grandmother and then came out and ran and grabbed Rory."
Blaise had gotten on her feet when they stepped inside, her brows furrowed. She passed them, going into the nervously.
"What happened with you guys?" Aisling asked, standing up next to Ellis. He hesitated for a moment. "We had a wildlife encounter. No big deal."
They were gone for a couple of minutes more before Blaise came out. She was silent as she passed them, her face pale. She made no eye contact as she went to her room. It took a bit longer for Rory and Dion to come out. Dion looked deeply saddened and lost, while Rory didn't have much of an expression, watching the ground.
Both Ellis and Aisling looked up, their expressions of concern mirroring each other. "Dion?" Aisling asked. "What's going on?"
