He noticed and his face fell. He crossed over to her in about two strides and pulled her into a gentle hug.
He rubbed her back slowly, holding her closely. "It'll be okay," he said quietly. "This will get better."
"That woman raised me and now she's just.." she shrugged. "Not going to be around anymore. Everything is going to feel different."
He was quiet for a moment, watching her. "It will," he agreed after a moment, sitting down on the edge of the roof. "There will be days where you feel like you're lost in the woods without a map. There will be days when you will want nothing more than to go into her room and talk to her about whatever problems you may have and you won't be able to. But the thing you need to remember, Blaise, is that you have everything from her. You have her ideas and her thoughts and her morals and you have kept them close. Death was always going to come, but you did well in memorizing her before she left."
