Ellis was stretched out in the green grass. The Meadow was a common spot for him, and those in his clan knew that it was his typical resting spot. He was dozing lightly, his curly black hair cushioning his head, his long legs extended in his relaxation. The scene was quiet, and the sun warmed him as he slept.
Blaise traversed through the woods, her steps quiet and thoughtful as she marked her map. She muttered to herself with each point, keeping notes in a seperate book. The sunlight slanted through the leaves, and the only other sound than her quiet murmurs were the birds and wind rustling the leaves.
Ellis woke suddenly, as he always did. His eyes flew open and he took a deep breath, sitting up. His bright blue eyes scanned the area instinctively and there was a moment's silence before he relaxed, standing up and brushing himself off.
She tapped her chin with her pencil, kneeling down momentarily to mark a spot on the map where a blackberry bush was before continuing, following her compass north.
He moved into the woods quietly, his hands in his pockets as he went to check his traps, whistling quietly.
Blaise continued walking, her foot hitting a rope rigged across the path, acting as a sort of tripwire. However, she didn't have time to see exactly what it was because within moment a net scooped her up as she let out a short yelp, struggling to free herself with no avail.
Ellis frowned, hearing the yelp up ahead. He took off after the noise, his brows furrowed as he sprinted forward, moving swiftly through the familiar forest. As he approached the trap, his gaze quickly scanned over the area as he made a quick analysis. He frowned, staying out of sight as he moved over tree roots, watching for her next move.
She understood that of she struggled she wouldn't get anywhere. With a huff, she marked down that there were traps in a forest before folding up and the map and putting her belongings away with her bag, taking out a small knife to free herself, her brows furrowed with worry. She wasn't sure who would be coming.
Ellis studied her thoughtfully before stepping into the clearing. "Please don't cut through it," he said quietly, his low voice soft and gentle, as if speaking to a wounded animal. "They take a long time to make. I'll free you in a moment."
She froze, turning the knife from the net to Ellis as she held it close to her defensively. "Who are you?"
His gaze darted to the blade and he raised one eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "My name is Ellis," he replied smoothly. "You seem to have gotten tangled in the net. Would you mind dropping the weapon so I can free you?"
He nodded, approaching the tree and climbing it swiftly, his slender frame easily making its way up the bark, finding divots in the surface that allowed him easy access. He moved out onto her branch and hung upside down, beginning to loosen the knots that contained her, doing all this with a severe frown on his face.
He looked over at her, amusement wrinkling his brow. "Eat you? No, I don't eat people. What would make you say that?"
