"Is that so?" he asked, letting down the last knot but catching the net and slowly lowering her to the ground. "Exactly how many cannibals have you run into lately?"
He laughed slightly, turning and landing on the ground easily, as if he had done it for his entire life. He regarded her warmly, if not a little analytically. "I have to honest. I'm having a hard time believing you."
He reached out a hand for the net. He had a kind face; earnest, almost, if not very serious, but he cocked his head as he considered her. "I'm sorry you got caught. It wasn't my intention."
She gave him the net, standing up and brushing herself off. "It wasn't my intention to step in it." She paused. "However, I probably won't be exploring much of these woods anymore."
He smiled slightly, raising one eyebrow. "That might be best," he replied gently. "If only for your safety."
He nodded, heading through the woods carefully, his steps slow and deliberate. “Alright, then. This way. Remind me your name?”
She followed, looking around with furrowed brows distractedly. "Uh.. Blaise. My name is Blaise. What about you?"
He gave her a tentative smile, looking uncertain for a moment as they moved through the trees. "So... what brings you to the woods?" he asked, keeping his eyes on the ground as he watched for traps.
She looked thoughtful. "Mapping them. They're just outside the city, and I dont leave often so.. Seeing what resources it holds."
"The city?" he commented with interest as they broke through the forest, entering the meadow. He slipped his hands in his pockets, looking over at her. "What city?"
She shrugged, looking confused as she thought of the city. A slight frown crossed her face. "Is there a name for it? I only know it by sections. It's south of here. The big city." She paused. "Is there a name for it? I've lived there all my life."
He looked perplexed, looking over at her thoughtfully. "Your clan actually lives in the city? Isn't it dangerous in there?" He frowned, looking worried as he considered her. "I'm sure the city had a name, once, but... well... names fade away from disuse. The city itself fades away too."
"It can be dangerous," she admitted, looking over at him, "but we keep hidden. We do it well." She paused. "So your clan doesn't live in the city?"
