"Like I said, I was looking for it." She went to the plant, taking her spade and gently digging it out, placing the dirt part in the burlap sack and holding it, looking up at him. "Would you tie this closed for me? I don't want it slipping off."
She nodded and put her tools back in her back before picking up the plant. "Thank you. Do you want to go back now?"
She looked down at the lavender, picking one of the flowers and twirling it in her fingers before looking over at him thoughtfully. She put it in his hair playfully.
He blinked in surprise, looking down at her, his icy blue eyes shockingly gentle as he studied her affectionately. "Thanks, Mallory," he said quietly.
Her brown eyes were warm and happy as they watched him, a hint of curiosity and playfulness in them. "How does it look?"
His gaze met hers and he fell silent for a moment, considering her. "Pretty," he said after a second. "It looks pretty."
