He frowned, eyeing her for a moment. He didn't look cross, to be sure, but he did look... concerned and tight-lipped. "I... I'm sorry, Blaise. I can't disclose the location of my clan."
She laughed slightly, a bit uncertainly. "I'm not asking for it. We just.. don't need any more trouble. I'd rather avoid other clans."
He relaxed slightly, looking at her out of the corner of his eye. "I'm not in the city. Don't worry."
She nodded slightly, seeming somewhat relieved. "There was a lot of worry the other day. A couple of the clan members got into a small fight after something went through the city. From what I heard more than a few people went to see what it was and, well... No one was hurt, at least."
He tilted his head slightly, looking thoughtful. A frown threatened his lips and he tucked his hands behind his back. "Something went through the city? Like what?"
"What? No way. It's too risky and more trouble than what it's worth." She laughed slightly. "It's impressive, no doubt."
He didn’t laugh in response, still looking concerned for her. “Don’t you have an engineer, Blaise? For your clan?”
"An engineer? I mean sure, we have people decent with construction.. Some inventions, like stuff to give us clean water, plumbing and the likes, but nothing like that."
He seemed relieved by this answer, nodding. He seemed genuinely concerned for her, his dark brows knitted in a frown. “That makes more sense. An engineer is a necessity for larger clans, but smaller clans can make do without them.”
"Yeah, I could see that. She looked over at him nervously. "Is all your clan good? I mean, you let me out of the trap, but not everyone would do that. You know, like cannibals."
He squinted at her, crossing his arms defensively. "Are you asking me if I'm friends with cannibals? Blaise, you gotta get that idea out of your head."
"I'm sorry! It was just an old myth my grandmother used to tell me." She huffed. "Besides, I trust that you're no cannibal."
"Because you realize that I could have eaten you, correct?" he asked, turning to look at her and crossing his arms.
