He looked up, his eyes wide. "Oh wow." *** Dion looked uncertain, but followed, watching where he moved meticulously. *** She set up the carnival game, which included knocking a pyramid of bottles down. "And it would be all your fault," she said, placing a ball in front of him with a raised eyebrow.
She looked delighted by this, slipping out of the control box. “Come on, let’s catch a ride!” *** She scampered up easily, glancing back down at him. “Keep up, Dion!” *** He picked up the ball, rolling it in his fingers. “Why would it be my fault? I’m not eating you.”
He gave her a small grin, approaching the machine to get on a cart with her. *** He squinted up at her "Hush! I'm not used to this!" *** She stepped to the side, leaning against the counter with folded arms. "You brought the lion to me."
The wheel was turning slowly and Lucy tracked the approaching cart with her eyes. “Alright, that one. We gotta run alongside it until we jump in, okay?” *** Her low laugh could be heard floating down to him as she waited for him to catch up. *** He aimed his shot before throwing it, his sharp eyes helping with the target. “You kept the lion. Honestly, who would do that?”
He nodded, watching the cart. "Sounds iffy, but I think we can do it." *** He eventually caught up, his brows furrowed. *** "It was when you first brought him to me!" she told him, rewarding him as plush as prize playfully. "He just decided I looked very appetizing."
She nodded and when the time came, she ran along side the cart before jumping in, reaching out a hand to him. *** She looked over him thoughtfully. “All good?” *** “Why would a lion think that?” he replied. “You’re barely a snack.”
He followed, looking focused as he took her hand and jumped in. *** He looked up at her at the last few steps. "I think so-" he was cut off as his foot slipped, a look of panic and terror crossing his face as he lost grip. *** "I'm just the appetizer, and you would be the meal."
She laughed breathlessly, looking excited. “We did it!” *** Her eyes widened, and quick reflexes had her grabbing his hand, her free hand and legs wrapped around the tower. “*squee!*!” *** “Blaise, are you flirting with me?” he teased, offering her the toy.
He was looking out, his eyes wide. "We did. I'm a little surprised." *** His hat blew off, but he barely noticed, his eyes wide as he quickly regained his grip to the structure. *** "I didn't know that calling you lion food was a compliment," she teased back, taking the toy. She inspected the inside of the small tent. She looked under the table and a wide grin crossed her face. "Oh.. my god."
She looked giddy as they rose through the air. “This is so cool!” *** She looked stricken, her gaze never leaving him. “Are you okay?!” *** He frowned, coming over to her. “What is it?”
"I bet we could see everything from the top." *** He looked pale, grasping onto the metal structure. "I think my heart stopped." *** She reached under, pulling out a giant bear plush.
“Yeah. Too bad we can’t stop it from here.” *** She climbed down next to him, studying him worriedly. “Are you hurt at all? Is your arm okay?” *** “Ohhhh *squee!*,” he said, his voice hushed.
"Maybe someone else can stop it?" *** "I'm okay," he reassured shakily. "Just scared half to death." *** She looked up at him thoughtfully before throwing it at him full force.
"Or we can go around a couple times and just watch," she suggested. "We have time." * * * She exhaled. "Me too. That was terrifying. Let's go down." * * * He gasped, catching it and looking down at her for a moment before sprinting off with it.
He nodded, sitting down. *** "Okay," he said slowly, starting down. *** Her eyes widened as she chased him. "Wait a second!"
She didn't sit down, instead electing to lean over the side, her eyes wide as they climbed higher and higher. * * * She followed him as they got to the ground. * * * "No! He's mine now!" Ellis called over his shoulder, prancing away.
He leaned back, resting his arms as he observed the view. *** When they got to the ground he just decided to lay on his back. "My legs are not working." *** "I want him back!"
She looked over at him for a moment. "The Light Ages had it right." * * * She laughed lightly, looking down at him warmly before lying next to him. "That's okay. Just lie down for a while." * * * "Too bad! I'm faster than you!"
He returned the gaze thoughtfully. "What do you mean?" *** He sighed deeply. "I lost my hat." *** She tried to catch up, hoping the bear would slow him down.
"Setting up giant machines like this just to have fun. They changed the world, Jaz," she mused, sitting next to him. "They lived in a miraculous world and now we're just surviving in their ruins." * * * She looked over at him, piercing her lips. "I know. I'm sorry, Dion." * * * He was still extremely fast, glancing over his shoulder playfully. "Fool!"
