Dion didn't seem to mind, talking idly about a few adventures he had been on while she braided his hair. Blaise was lying on her side behind Ellis, her head propped up on her hand before she sat up, leaning over his shoulder. "You're going to burn your hands." Jaz seemed to be having a good time, following her with bright eyes.
She finished braiding his hair, admiring her work before sitting next to him with a small huff, resting her head on his shoulder. “You’re a crazy guy.” *** He beamed over at her, his eyes unfocused. “Me? Never,” he teased, leaning back against her affectionately. *** Lucy was laughing, squeezing Jaz’s hand occasionally as they danced along to the music. “You’re doing so well!”
He reached back to feel the braid, his eyes warm. "How does it look?" *** She chuckled lowly, running a hand through his hair idly. "But it's hot." *** He grinned, holding her hands in his. "It's fun!"
“It looks really good,” she said with an air of satisfaction. “You have realllyyy nice hair.” *** He leaned into her touch, closing his eyes peacefully. “Nah, I’ll be okay. I’m tough.” *** “I’m impressed,” she replied eagerly. “You’re keeping in time to the music and everything.”
He nodded slowly, a small grin on his face. "Thank you. I have no doubt in your braiding abilities." *** She shifted, reaching her hand toward the fire. "I can do it too." *** "This is good music," he said brightly, pausing to playfully spin her around.
“Good,” she replied sleepily, turning her face into his neck. “Thanks for dealing with me.” *** “No, no,” he hastened, reaching out and taking her hand. “Don’t do that.” *** She laughed deeply at this, draping her arms over his shoulders as they continued to dance. “You’re insane.”
He rubbed her back slowly. "I don't mind at all. I like your company." *** She squinted. "Well why not? I can do it." *** "Perfectly sane," he corrected. "I am learning to dance!"
She laughed lightly, moving closer to him. “I enjoy your company too. I’m really glad you didn’t die earlier.” *** “I don’t want you to. Your hands are beautiful; don’t burn them to prove a point.” *** “You are doing that, and you’re doing it so well,” she replied easily.
He nodded. "Me too. Thanks for saving me." *** "You're beautiful," she said, her tone complaining. *** "I'm having fun," he said, his eyes warm as he observed her. "Thank you for teaching me."
“You’re welcome,” she replied, closing her eyes tiredly. “I’m sorry you lost your hat.” *** He grinned, ruffling her hair with his free hand. “I know, Blaisey.” *** She looked up at him, her smile easy and affectionate on her face. “Of course.”
"It's okay," he said, a slight frown on his face, "I'll find another." *** She held his other, closing her eyes. "Good." *** "I had fun today. It was nice."
She was quiet for a moment before pulling away slightly, cupping his face with her hand gently before standing up. “You should go to sleep. Long day tomorrow.” *** He laid back, holding her in his arms gently as he yawned. “Are you asleep?” *** “Me too, Jaz. I like spending time with you.”
He nodded, moving over to his sleeping mat. "Don't forget to turn off the car. Goodnight." *** "No," she murmured. "Should I be?" *** He nodded, pausing to stretch. "I like spending time with you too."
She nodded, standing up and going over to the car, shutting it off before disappearing to the fairground. * * * She would be able to hear the smile in his voice. "You don't have to be." * * * The music stopped when Aisling turned off the car, and Lucy frowned before looking down at Jaz. "We should probably sleep anyway."
He closed his eyes, drifting off quickly. *** She opened an eye to look at him, a small smile on her face. "Is that so?" *** He sighed, sitting down. "I suppose so."
His eyes were closed, but he had a wide smile on his lips. "You can do whatever you want." * * * Lucy stretched out on the bedroll, being careful to leave room for him.
She observed him, her lips pursed. "Hm.. Good. I think I will sleep. Right here." *** He looked down before joining her, yawning.
He opened one eye to look at her, raising an eyebrow before opening his arms and pulling her close to him. "Fine, then." * * * She shifted in the close quarters, closing her eyes. "Sleep well, Jaz."
He drifted off quickly, holding her to his chest. * * * It didn't take long for her to fall asleep, her head resting on her arm.
