She followed quick behind. *** He watched the fire a bit before drifting off. .... A few hours into the night, he began shifting, muttering under his breath.
She reached out, her hand on his shoulder as she shook him gently. "Jaz, wake up. Wake up. You're having a nightmare."
She sat up too, looking over at him worriedly. "Hey, hey... are you alright?" she asked quietly, rubbing his back slowly.
She frowned, considering him worriedly. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked gently, watching him carefully.
She sighed slightly, still rubbing his back slowly. "You should lie back down," she said. "Try and calm down."
She considered him for a moment before lying back down next to him, lying on her side and watching him. There was a small moment of silence before she hugged him tentatively, slipping her arms around his waist and pulling him close.
Her head rested on his chest and after a moment, she spoke. "Try and match your breathing to mine, alright? Try and breathe with me."
He nodded, listening to her breathe and slowly following. This seemed to calm him and he closed his eyes, shifting. He took slow breaths before falling back asleep.
Dion was asleep the next morning, his arms over her head. *** Blaise holding onto his arms as she slept, her back to his chest. *** Jaz was also asleep, much more peaceful than before.
Aisling was asleep a couple of feet away from Dion, her head resting on her arm. His hat, a little dirty, but still intact, was lying next to him on the ground. * * * Ellis's arms were wrapped around her waist and his head was resting on top of hers, his cheek against her hair. * * * Lucy was still asleep next to Jaz, her arms still loosely wrapped around his waist and her head on his chest.
