He leaned back, relaxing his head. *** "I forced nothing. Besides, you enjoyed it." *** He nodded. "No problem."
Aisling looked over at him for a moment and smiled to herself before continuing on. * * * "Well, yeah. I like hugging people when I sleep. It's nice." * * * It didn't take long for her to fall asleep, her hand resting on his leg.
He didn't seem to notice, looking out the window again. *** "It is," she agreed, leaning against the window and closing her eyes. "I like it too." *** He looked down at her thoughtfully, his head tilted.
"When are you going to finish my hat?" she asked him as they got on the highway. * * * He leaned against Balthazar and reached over to ruffle her hair, but said nothing more. * * * She looked peaceful while she slept, her dark brow relaxed and her head turned towards him. She had a few freckles across the bridge of her nose and rosy cheeks from the chill of the breeze.
"Probably once we get back or while we're driving. Not sure." *** She eventually drifted, leaning against the window uncomfortably. *** He flushed slightly, looking out the window.
They stepped out onto the sand of the beach, looking around curiously. Aisling pulled her hair back before heading towards the water. Ellis turned to Blaise. "Sand castle time?" Lucy balanced on the driftwood, holding her arms out.
Dion looked around thoughtfully, putting his hat on his head. *** She grinned, taking off her shoes. "Yeah!" *** Jaz was looking up at the sky. "I've never seen the ocean before."
Aisling took off her shoes and walked into the water, exhaling sharply as the cold water hit her, soaking the hem of her trousers. She looked out across the water, her hands in her pockets. * * * He sat in the sand, beginning to gather the damp sand. * * * She laughed lightly, coming over to him and putting her hands on his shoulder playfully. "Then why are you looking at the sky?"
Dion joined her, not quite standing in the water as he looked out. "It's endless.." *** Blaise sat close by, looking around as she picked up a shell, holding it out to him. "Look!" *** "It's so blue."
She watched it thoughtfully, her brow furrowed. "It makes me sad," she said eventually. * * * He ruffled her hair. "That's a great shell." * * * "And you can't handle it?" she teased, raising an eyebrow.
He looked over at her curiously. "Sad? Why?" *** She grinned, standing up. "Be right back!" she told him brightly, before running off. *** "I like it."
She shrugged slightly, her brow furrowed. "We're pretty small, in the grand scheme of things. We're never going to cross this body of water. We're never going to do anything of worldwide consequence." * * * He blinked, watching her leave with a small smile before returning to his work. * * * "Then why aren't you looking at it?"
He frowned, touching the water thoughtfully with his foot. "Does that matter to you?" *** She was gone for a short while before returning dumping two handfuls of shells next to him. *** He looked over at her. "I was looking at the sky."
She was quiet for a moment. "I'd like to make a difference," she said eventually, looking over at him. "I'd like to die knowing that my life meant something." * * * He laughed deeply, raising one eyebrow. "You're crazy." * * * "Look at the water. It's bluer than the sky."
He frowned, folding his arms. "Huh.. That doesn't mean you have to cross the ocean." *** She sat back down. "I like finding them!" *** He looked out to the horizon, his head tilted slightly.
"No," she agreed with a nod. "But it's just one more thing I won't be able to do with my life." * * * "Well, you can decorate the castle when we're done here." * * * The sun was shining off the surface of the blue water, painting a picturesque scene in front of him.
