I know how it feels to be physically beaten down by bullies for the clothes I wore. I have an alternative way of dressing; Corsets, leather, lace, chains, dark makeup etc. And I used to be the target of a lot of beatings. I've been spat on four times...:( It really is despicable...But when college began, I had never felt happier, because in those walls I knew I would be with those that understood and accepted me. Although I still get negative attention on the streets, I have my friends to turn to for support. It really feels great. :)

And you should definately wear it! Pinkie Pie is wonderful and you should share her with the world! :D

Wow... I've never actually been beaten up, but I have been smashed into lockers, punched and things like that. So I can't really relate. But that really sucks that you had to deal with that in school... You should be able to feel happy and comfortable with wearing whatever you choose. It's awesome to hear that the college students had accepted the things you enjoy.

Thats sounds good being accepted.... Shame I'm still about 3 Years off of College (Yr 9 in england) Luckily I can stand up for myself if I have to... But I will still try to avoid telling them for now....

I'm a much stronger person because of it. It was unfortunate that they happened, but I'm not too disheartened knowing that I've prevailed on top~! :) But seriously, I really wish the best for you! If you ever need to chat, I'll be available as I check on Everypony almost every day~ :)

    reply to OP:
personally, I never had any problems beside some of my friends saying: "but those are ponies, how can you watch it?"
other than that, no much trouble, although there were couple funny situations:
one this weekend, couple of us (zagreb bronies) raid Muller (store that sells mlp stuff in croatia), and as 2 bronies serched for codes on blindbags, one mom (probably) who was shopping there (probably for her daughter) said:"are you done playing with your ponies?" in kinda rude way (well, 5-6 17-25 year old men (and one girl) buying ponies xD)) but we just laughed at ourselfs, and she was confused. she probably thought we were planing april's fools on someone or something xD

Other situation that I was in was on Sljeme mountain, when I was snowboarding. I had my Twilight Sparkle Study t-shirt and there was one little kid in ski school that wanted to ride chairlift with me. and instructor just gave me the looks, but I then talked to her: "well, that's very nice from you, but you shouldn't ride with strangers however nice they look, except your ski instructor lets you". so he just smiled, and went with kid up, and I was behind them. so all went well

Although, I might have it easy when wearing my pony t-shirts since I have L t-shirts and I'm actually short irl, so t-shirts come to me like tall tee, which goes above regular t-shirt wearing, as in, I usually wear wide and baggy clothes so it doesn't look so bad. You know, it's kinda that attitude: I'm so cool with it, that I can wear my ponies and not give a buck.

Year 9! I remember how nasty of a person I was back then...I didn't grow up until the end of that year. It's wonderful that you're not ashamed to be a brony away from school. :) Some are so in denial that they just avoid it and hate on others that like it. :< Being a brony in year 9 is great! Trust me, year 10 and 11 are much more tolerable years, and is in most cases the time some people grow up a little. ;) But hello fellow english Brony! It's nice to know that there are more people liking MLP FIM closer to home~!

Pff, the people at my school get more and more intolerable as the years go by. I can only imagine what they'll be like in Year 13.

It's good that you can laugh at those situations and not take light ridicule to heart. I did the same with this woman selling the MLP stuff with her daughter, I did give her a shy smile and say that I could never grow out of My Little Pony or the original Polly Pocket sets (they had tiny little people the size of peas and playsets you could wear as necklaces!) She did return the comment with an awkward smile and said also that she loved barbie until the age of 16. :) Some of the kids I've met when I've worn my t-shirts think I'm really cool and they feel happy knowing that there are older kids watching their show. It's nice to have something in common with kids that you can actually talk about rather than write them off as annoying and whiny little whippersnappers.

Oh my, I remember one woman asking me to babysit her eight year old because her daughter was obssessed with MLP and had started talking about my custom My little pony jeans in a shop. She had learning difficulties and the mother said that she was usually so shy and timid, so she was glad that she had actually interacted with someone. I felt good after that. :) I have male and female friends about my age who like MLP, and we raid Tescos quite often because they actually sell MLP figurines! I have yet to convince my boyfriend to watch an episode with me, but I don't push him. He did research on the show though, and he's educated himself on quite a lot of the brony terminology, and that in itself is really great!

Our highschool stopped the sixth form in the year we left, but I knew college was the right place for me if I wanted to 'branch out' so to speak.
I guess it's dependant on which school you attend. Some are more brutish and backward than others, but some can have a little spark of diversity if they're lucky!

I can't help but think how wildly out-of-context some crazy paranoid people might take sites like this. Being that it's open to all ages, and we have people in their young teens as well as some that are 40+, the crazies might say something like "Everypony is an abomination where pedophiles can meet underage children and lure them under false pretenses of loving My Little Pony."

Sad thing is, it's not a stretch to imagine crazy people saying that if they discovered this place.

And that makes me a sad pony.

I wish there were meet-ups around here. I don't know of any, anyway. I think I'm the only (active) member here who lives in Georgia.

Once I am trusted enough to go out on my own and learn how to drive I WILL grab all my stuff and make it for any kind of Brony meeting. It'd be nice to meet y'all IRL :D

I've learned to live with the haters. Some of the anti-bronies do make a lot of sense. I see bronies quite frequently trying to cram the show down everyone's thoat. The first few people I told I thoroughly explained for hours why I liked it. I wasn't just like "Watch it. It's good." Remember, it's not just the show we want to share with people, it's what it represents. I'm completely open about my bronyism and personally I think it's rather fun to make the ignorant look stupid in front of others.

I really don't know what would of happened if I was told about MLP from a friend. I found the show on my own completely by accident and after only 2-3 videos I was so attached to it that it was all I could think of for weeks. I didn't even know it was MLP until the end of the second day watching videos on youtube. At that point, I began to feel extremely self-conscious only because I learned what name it was all linked to. It was only after the first week I started researching for others who loved the show as much as I did. I did feel like a freak at first because I felt so alone about it. It's really the name that throws people off from the good that it shows everyone. People immediately assume that anything with the name "My Little Pony" on it will never catch their interest so they don't even bother.

The show doesn't really teach us, it just reminds us of what's really important since the system we cling to known as reality weeds out any kinds of feelings in the heart. Everything has to be logical, factual, and proven real. There's no room for gut feelings or compassion in big businesses and even small businesses sometimes. Looks like I turned a small post into quite a mouth-full. Anyways, I think it's better to be more relaxed about bronyism around people, no matter who they are. If you try too hard to defend it, you're really just hurting your own cause in the end.

Oh, those things would be so atrocious if they were to happen! I could not express to you how many angry letters I would write out to trample out any horrid suggestions such as that!
No matter what age you are, you shouldn't be discriminated for liking a show and fandom that promotes so many wonderful things that we as a society should be focusing on! Blindness will get them nowhere and will cause more harm than anything! :( I think it's really wonderful for Bronies young and old to appreciate something so free and diverse. If we all focus on belittling those with differences, how will we ever acheive any structured peace and harmony?

I'm sure that if it came to that worse situation, there would be many fighting against such cruel speculations. I, for one am extremely good at writing angry letters; They're a figurative punch to the balls and kick to the face. Full of professional tone and vocabulary, but SEVERE lecturing. I don't want any cruel person hurting anypony, especially if they've done nothing wrong. <:( *Hugs* Whilst there are Bronies willing to fight for their freedom of expression, there won't be anyone closing down such a helpful, supportive community. :) I'm sure of that.

Oh, I never force any of my opinions and beliefs upon anyone. I despise extremism in all forms, as it stifles all form of liberal growth and expression. I have come across members of the fandom that have been sexist towards me, and some are just wholly immature and have complete disregard for what Friendship is Magic actually portrayes. There are different groups of people in every branch everywhere, religion, ideology, bronyism etc etc. Some are more pleasant than others. Obviously I cannot call them 'bad', as that would be biased against another person. People deciding to associate themselves in a group will spark/endure conflict from others. Sometimes it's a clash of personality, but a lot of the time it's an argument of differing beliefs and opinions. I've seen full blown Youtube arguments about 'who is best pony' and 'Anybody who likes this pony is (insert insult here)' It's extremely pathetic, and like in ANY other group, there are the minor few that put the actual members to shame. And unfortunately, It's those said few that spark the most attention and become a generalisation which people chose to use as a stereotype against those doing no harm.

It teaches some people to be 'a better person', or at least to feel better about themselves. To some, it does remind them of what they want in a society and how they would want to be treated. The show means different things to different people. The odd few take it upon themselves to use MLP FIM in a different way, and all in all result in upsetting other members to the point where they disassociate themselves with Bronies. You interpret the show/fandom in whatever way you like. The point is not to discriminate.

I stopped caring about humanity after i became homeschooled ,because in public school i was emotionally tormented both by the school system itself and the idiots in it.

I became so mentally unstable and emotionally dead that if i stayed in there too much longer i would have killed everyone in the classroom and then muttured in the corner splattered in gore.

Then i left.My emotions grew back..but im still unstable, and bitter towards other humans.

So if i encountered a hater i would just flip them off.
