Let us not forget that which makes this fandom possible - the internet. If this show had been the first My Little Pony to come out, say, the 1980's, it might've gone one or two seasons, but that would have been it. And, years later, people on the internet would discover that there were fans of this show from years ago called, "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic," and give it a rebirth of sorts. So let us thank this wonderful device called the internet which has brought us all together, eh?
Everything that has a beginning, has an end Neo. With a fandom this big, even after its time running on the air, it will have a cult following.
So how exactly can this die? simple it can not die!!! as long as one person in the world still believes in it even is he or she is the only one then technically it has not died.
Hmm, I seriously don't see this dying soon. All things must die, yes... But as long as they stay true to the FiM type of show, I would not see the Bronydom dying. And like LyonKS555 said, a show like this will certainly, after it ends, continue having a cult following for a very long time.
Trekies have been around for quite some time. Star Wars fans have also been around. And lets not even get into Tolkien's material. While MLP is less popular (sad, but true) the same principle may apply. As long as fans can read/write their own fanfiction, or purchase anything related to the show they adore, the original material will last. Fantasy material in particular ages quite well. Personally, I don't see myself giving up on MLP anytime soon. Or ever. Friendship is magic, and magic is forever.
I expect it to go on for a long time, but I guess it might end when Hasbro decides to get too selfish, the show starts to suck, and there's just not much genuine interest yet. Or, they'll just end it, and a similar effect may happen. Dunno which will snuff out the community faster. I don't want it to die, though, and I expect it to go on for a while. I have faith that America can continue to allow nice things for at least a good while longer. :33
Ah, well, I was thinking that with Season 3 in the works, we have at least 1.5 years left. But that's just me.
You know, a couple weeks ago I was considering the possibility of when the brony fad will fade away, but thought to myself...nah, don't even bring it up, best not to jinx it.
Eventually, everything has to end. Personally, I don't like thinking about that kind of stuff. It might have an end someday but it doesn't by any means mean we can't give it a good run. In other words, yes, it will eventually fade. However, we should be happy we have what we have now. Live in the here an now. Don't regret the past or fear the future.
For me the fandom probably will never be brought to an end. The show may be cancelled at the point and the majority of the communities will disband over time, but what's stopping me from continuing on with the fandom? Nothing, that's what. Just because the show is cancelled doesn't mean you can't continue to watch and enjoy it.
Err........no thanks. "Seasib"? If it can get 2,033 episodes+ I would be amazed and scared at the same time. That's a lot of episodes... Why does this make me feel this is Saikyo. *Checks introduction sub-forum* ________________________________ Anyways, I do agree with Dan. You guys have to be realistic about this. I know you guys might think it will go on "FOREVER! " but in reality you know it won't. I just want some realistic opinions about why/how/what will happen at the point at which it goes downhill from there. Also. *bump*
Season 3 being produced before Season 2 even aired. People who work on the show communicate heavily with their community and fans. This show will not be dying within the next few seasons, or even slowing down. With Lauren Faust's legacy to guide them (and I'm sure they will seek her advice and guidance as needed), it has a very strong chance of lasting quite longer than most shows. (I see it as surpassing Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Six seasons and a movie finale.)
By popular demand around the world today, the show hardly die at least until the end of 2012 (With the announcement of a possible Season 3), I sincerely wanted this success was eternal, everything is really good to see: the community, the drawings, the remix of the songs, the fandom in general, but nothing is eternal as is the way to make the most of what we have now. If you confirm a Season 3 and 4 may believe that the show will live for another 2~3 years with the same intensity he has today, maybe turn up something like "The Simpsons" 23 Seasons.
I think, no matter how long the show lasts, the fandom will last a good 1-2 years after the show is finished. The community has produced 1000% more content than the show has, and I can't see the fandom slowing down at all in the next four years at least.
The show may die out, yes. The group known as "Bronies", may fade into obscurity, yes. But for me? The message this fandom has given me, that it's possible to be nice to people on the internet, even with a veil of anymosity? It will never die out.
*Bump* I want to see more thoughts on this topic, please post :derpe: Anyway, I give it another year or so.
