Ditto. Maybe 1 year after the last season. If the statistics are positive for Season 3, then a couple more years or so...
It will die out, I can promise you that, for everything dies out eventually. When it will happen? I have no idea. Certainly not in a year, though. Maybe, what, five or six? It really all depends on the amount of seasons, the amount of people willing to create pony related stuff, and if the human race is still alive.
There's also something else to consider: if the show continues being as successful as it has been up to now, and Hasbro/etc. realizes that actually TRYING to make the show good is a pretty darn good idea, what about a hypothetical Generation 5 in a few years? Or is it way too early to be talking about that?
With any other online community, I would have said "Well, this will last about until people start to grow up. Then college and work demands will eat up time they used to spend here, and as old friends grow apart, the forums and the roleplays and all that will slowly sort of sputter without dying outright until people are too lazy to come back. It won't suddenly die so much as it will whimper and fade." And I was right. But what about a fandom composed of people in their 20s and 30s, even their 40s? Bronies are interesting in that a sizable proportion of them are adults with adult responsibility. I can't help but imagine (hope?) that interests and relationships are more permanent with such folks. Their personalities will be more constant, and so their relationships will be longer; their tastes will be more formed, and so their hobbies more concrete. That as a given, I think communities like this one will persist for at least as long as the show, which I give 4 seasons. After that, there will be immediate stagnation in terms of new blood; but how long will the old blood last? It seems to me that communities like Everypony have significant momentum beyond what the show gives them--and so I expect some, perhaps small, groups of bronies to be around for many more years to come.
Generation 5. With grown up versions of the CMC as the main characters. Or would that still be Generation 4?
Yeah, this particular show will run it's course. All we can do is hope for the best and try to stick together.
well, let me reply. I didn't go trough whole topic since I don't have that much time. anyway, reply for first post: yes, I was talking about this with few people on here, and I do sense lack of enthusiasm. You know that enthusiasm that was here in July and August, when this place was booming with that happy brony enthusiasm. Not sure if it's only to this place, or same thing is happening to other brony sites, but we need something to boost up that enthusiasm back to max. (I even remember times when it was bit too high, and people were willing to go in fights for being a brony (remember: "Are we overdiong it a bit?" topic? now we need "Are we underdoing it a bit?" topic) )
I don't think Hasbro will "fix what isn't broken" with this generation. Currently, the show is brimming with financial success for them, not to mention how welcomed the fans are. How many seasons were there of the older generations? (Weren't they only 5-10 minute episodes?)
I think that "Are we underdoing it a bit?" thread would be really interesting, I suggest you should start it up, Yeti.
