Somehow that figures. I suspect it's the whole "rainbow" thing. Grrr . . . ! But that's why I'm so surprised my RD shirt gets ignored! Red neck Reno ignoring a rainbow thingie! Huh. Maybe I am scarier looking that I thought.
as Dwynter said, I think it's all Rainbow thing, not Rainbow Dash herself. I'm certain that if whole rainbow colors were more subtle (or black and white t-shirt with only outlines), there wouldn't be any reaction as well as other shirts.
Either the figure Rainbow Dash, or the color/colour scheme of rainbows. That's why gets the most attention out of my current shirts.
Generally Positive: You have received overall positive reactions while wearing your brony shirt. Of course, I only wore it once, before my judgemental parents found it and cut it up because they thought I was a freak for liking MLP...sigh. But they don't control me! I still take part in the fandom anyways.
Oh god, this thread is reminding me of why I hate people. I still keep my obsession on the downlow. I'm very careful to who I reveal it to and here are the results so far.(In Order) Brother 1: Became a fan, but not as much as me. He even got me my first Brony shirt on my BDay. Brothers Girlfriend: Also became quite the fan. She loves drawing Derpy Hooves and she is very good at it. Brother 2: Doesn't seem to care in the least. He probably thinks I'm gay. Sister: She wants to talk about it again sometime, but in a good/neutral way. Friend: Confused but amused at first. I think our 2 hour long pony session helped him understand. He used to be a Powerpuff Girls fan so we made a good connection. Overall I'd say positive, even though each time I thoroughly explained everything to them.
What the f... hay?! What a waste of a shirt. <- Oh I actually use the Luna emoticon. I'd loan a shirt, as long as it doesn't get cut up...now I hope my shirts don't do that. Which they probably won't because then they would say it was a waste of money and I'm going to get another batch anyways. ______ So what shirt was it? WeLoveFine / Hot Topic / Other?
Perth is becoming a very brony city and after attending the meetup, I found out why. We marched through the main city singing songs from the show and it was basically a pride parade, there is rarely a person in Perth now who doesn't know what a brony is. I am getting reactions to my shirt, maybe once a week. It's amazing. When we were walking though town as a group one of the more enthusiastic bronies of the group was yelling PONIES! to random people she passed. I think the bronies in this city are really forward about it. Probably because we are such a tolerant city so there are rarely negative consequences to being this out about it.
It was this shirt: http://image.spreadshirt.com/image-...eight/280/cooler-from-the-front-aa_design.png It was so cool, but I don't think you can get it anymore. The site was down when I last checked... And yeah, I'm really pissed about what happened to it. I guess that's what happens when I try to explain FiM to my parents...
Aww...I love that shirt. Yeah I don't think you can get those anymore, but there are similar designs out there... Anyway, I'm sorry to hear your parents overreacted that badly, some people just can't deal with anything that is in contrast to what society expects of us. It is unfortunate, but that's just the way it is.
Damn... I'd be pissed off too. I have that same shirt. (With subtext; L) It currently is my favorite shirt out of the five I've ordered so far. Shame that the spreadshirt site for that shirt is down.
I was thinking about getting a pony shirt, but I'm really worried about the reactions and whatnot I'd get from others. I mean, I could probably wear something subtle, like certain cutie marks or whatever, but it would take awhile for me to wear a shirt that actually had one of the characters on it. It's probably going to be one of those things that I gradually let out in the open, because the same thing happened when I got into anime now that I think about it.
I was actively pursuaded to get both into MLP and Jap fandoms, so if I had said shirt, I would most likely wear it without second thoughts. And probably get a neutral reaction too... but that's besides the point. The point is that I has tolerating school, and happen to like ponies and some anime, although I'm mostly Touhou focused. Also, a certain brony was threatening to "Repeatedly associate himself with me while wearing a shirt of diminuative equine nature." I'll post how that ends.
So I decided to wear my brony shirt again on Monday (oh woe is me, i have not the money to buy such expensive awesomeness) and i bloody love who i met on the way to class. I met a fellow brony who happened to have had been wearing a fluttershy shirt with it saying "yay" under it. We just pointed each other out, then resumed with the regular brohoof and started talking pony wise. Awesome day it was indeed Also love how her friend was just staring at us like "hehe, these two are loonies" and my friend who walks with me to class just facepalmed and said "you found another one"
Ugh... I'm so sorry to hear that, Soren. That's the shirt I've been wanting to get, but since I waited too long, I'm afraid I'll never have that opportunity. To put it more accurately in my case, that opportunity came and went.
Wearing my Blank Flank shirt, http://www.redbubble.com/people/strangetalk/t-shirts/7553994-cutie-mark-crusaders-blank-flank Checking out at WalMart with my wife. The lady behind the register looks at my shirt, then to me, then back at groceries. Shirt, me, groceries, and this goes on for a minute or two. She looks at me and says 'I have to ask, what is a blank flank?' I looked back at her and said 'Do you happen to know about My Little Pony?' She says 'I watched it as a kid.' I reply with 'If you've never seen the new series, you wouldn't understand. Little ponies, no butt tattoos, it's mildly complicated.' She looked at me like I was stupid and went back to scanning things, and seemed to have an attitude the rest of the time we were checking out. Whether from stupidity or lack of awesome, that we really the first negative reaction I've recieved from someone. Also, at Dollar General buying some Red Bull last night after a six hour session at the tattoo shop, some yahoo felt the exuberant need to yell at the old lady that worked there about some socks. So I proceeded to tell him in no uncertain terms to GTFO, and that yelling at old people was not necessary, he decided to threaten me, so I got in his face. He backed down and left the store, the manager called the cops, and I left the store. The younger guy behind the counter comes out and is like 'Dude, I just wanted to shake your hand, everyone else ducked out.' He looked at my shirt, http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=834 , and proceeded to tell me he had watched a few episodes. I told him to get back to watching it and to enjoy the awesomeness of ponies. TL;DR? Pony shirts rock, and throw rocks at people with negative reactions.
Freaking awesome story. I only ever get. "hey cool shirt" or "that's dumb" I wish someone would ask about my shirts.
My girlfriend loved my shirt. After she saw it, "certain wonderful things" happened in which describing said things would get me kicked off the board. My mother had a phase of reactions. First was confusion with literal head scratching and one cocked eyebrow. Then said "What the hell?" and then laughed hysterically. I told her "Would you rather have me drinking heavily and getting high like 90% of people in my age bracket or wearing a silly shirt on occasion?" She went with the shirt. I win! My dad just said "I can do whatever I want basically and didn't care". Going to reveal the shirt in class in around 5 minutes. If I never post again, the students have beaten me senseless with sticks and large rocks.
i wore mine a second time yesterday but this time was different because i wore it around one of my closest friends who've ive known since the third grade, i haven't seen him for a long time until yesterday so i wanted to surprise him. and what a surprise it was... despite that he didnt want to have anything to do with mlp he really tolerated and listened to what i had to say about the show and why i liked it, he even took the time to look at some of the pictures online that was based on mlp, he said that discord was cool looking and even did a "brohoof" with me he picks at me sometimes but over all he was such a good sport and still one of the bestest friends ill ever have
