Reno is kinda in the middle of this massive plains area, in between two river (think Tigris and Euphrates), and basically controls the whole way up the river (not formally, but more along the lines of Rome's early "Allies" - - Auto Merge - - There also should be various major NPC nations IMO
Know what, just take the map of Azeroth from world of warcraft, and say that that's the world. It has everything we need technically... Maybe. I'm not sure, I haven't played warcraft since april.
Also my nation is slightly off the coast from Bena's with a mix of forests, plains and mountains. Though mainly forest.
The Saberai have no way to reach the island, which is why he told Silver. Flight-capable has a better chance of investigating the island.
Made within 10 minutes. Not exactly the best at Art, but rocked this up within a short period of time. I had a good idea. With Snow's Old Kingdom and a strip of land besides Ridley and Obsidian, this could be a very interesting plot idea. Let's say, whoever controls this strip, has a larger chance for let's say 'World Domination'. Also, i liked Snow's idea with adding NPC civilizations in the world to cover up the green space. Add's more to a plot perspective.
@Dreamer I was going to post something about Timber-Wolves bonding with the Saberai, sort of a "sealing the alliance" thing, but you (and Wicker) beat me to it. Just remember, they ARE sapient. So... be nice to them.
So far the alliances are looking like this: Me and bena- highly cultural/technologAical Ridley and dreamer- highly militaristic/cultural Crim and snow- highly technological/militaristic.
Hmm, the "Old Kingdom" is bigger than that, according to Reno, it had lands the Changelings are almost entirely on, and some of Lunaria's lands. I would make an outline, but I'm on my phone currently so I'll have to redraw the map on a peice of paper to show you.
I don't really know for myself, I was just trying to think of something that would fit Reno, which is a strong gold-looking armor in my head, so I kinda winged it and went with a really, really weak titanium, copper thing :/ if you have a better Idea I'ld love to hear it!
Titanium wasn't discovered until 1791. However, now that I realize that it isn't pure titanium, I see no real problem.
If I were to compare my nation to a nation at that time I would say it's a mix between the Greeks (mainly the athenians) and the Romans. Seeing as there iron armor is similar to that of a roman exept for a chestplate with more flexible ridges and iron leggings instead of a leather skirt. Finally they also have Corinthian helmets similar to hoplites. Only difference is that unlike Greek Corinthians, the Heavilian helmets are made to fit and also have ear slits and bigger eye slits to improve vision.
Sounds very heavy. Renoan armor varies depending on the tribe. Equestan armor is banded, light, and made to be easy to move in and focuses on protecting the chest, arms and head of the person while also trying to protect the horse as much as possible. Foot fighters have similar armor to Romans, only with strap on protective vambraces, shin protectors, etc. Riilonones use many a scaled armor that is mostly meant to protect them from enemy arrow barrages
That's mainly the Devi side of the army. The Paragoni on the other hand still has a combined mix of bronze and hardened leather. So while the Dvi are the two handed tanks. The Paragoni are the dual wielders/horseback/one handed/scouts/healers and support.
Oh, we should share tactics so we know how everyone fights. Spoiler: in case someone doesnt wanna read Reno general tactics in battle is to pelt their enemy under a barrage of arrows from both the Equestans circling around the flanks and front of the enemy and the Riilones from behind the safety of behind the Biilonoes and Auxiilus(auxiliaries) lines. After a barrage to soften up the enemy, the Auxiilus are sent charging in to further soften up the enemy followed by a combined Biilonoes and Equestan charge. All the while arrows are pelting the enemy. - - Auto Merge - - Oh, redrew Crim's map, it shows the size of the Old Kingdom and also a bit more realistic country sizes (disgard Reno's size, much of it isnt under their control, but more their allies.) everyone has the same colors as Crim's map, and the green outline that has stripes in it is the Old Kingdom [spoilers=Drawn Map][/spoilers]
Might want to fix the spoilers there snow. Anyway if we're discussing tactics here's mine: Spoiler: Tactics The Devi and Paragoni are mixed and split into legions. There are mainly more Devi in a legion as they are the main brute force. While the Devi fight together and march together Paragoni Celest Aeroixi provide magical shields to protect them from aerial threats. As well as acting as healers and ranged support. While they provide the main bulk of the military, Paragoni Tero'ns and Tero'hi fight alongside them they are normally better trained and have to provide their own armor and equipment in battle. Next theirs the saraphi, soldiers on horseback who normally lead the Devi into battle as well as flanking the army with a wide angle so they don't see them coming. They normally fight either with bows, special curved swords or spears. Finally there's the channelers, a relativity new unit of three Aeroix mages, both specializing in Celest and Luni Aeroix magic. They combine there powers and channelcit through an iron obelisk with an orb of pure Aeroix essence in it. They are normally slow and due to the rarity of the pure fluid (seeing as its at the bottom of an EXTREMELY deep sinkhole) very rare to find. Though if there's one thing good about them it's that they are the most powerful in the entire army I have also managed to somehow explain my immortality as Aeternal's can harness the Aeroix Essence to stay youthful. Until a new line of Aeternals can overpower them.
Quick question, is there any kind of limit of the magic sheild? And how would those mounted guys not be seen coming? If they weren't visible, they would need to be so far away that they might as well not be part of the army...also one last thing, small armies, what if it isn't a huge force?
