When Poppy and Evan were out in the driveway, he turned to her. "What the hell was that?" Poppy's tone was icy. "That," she said, "was me working with my partner on a project." "God, Poppy," he growled. "How could you be so blind? He doesn't want to work with you, he just wants to get on my nerves. You think he wants to work on the project with a nerdy, science geek? I hate to tell ya, Poppy, but guys like that only care about his reputation, and you would only bring it down." Poppy bit her lip, and said nothing, crossing her arms as she looked down. Evan sighed and stepped forward. "Look, Poppy," he said. "I'm sorry. I'm just looking out for you."
After a moment Miles opened the door. "Hey, annoying kid!" He voice was loud as he barked at Evan. He and Francis had similar tones when they were annoyed. "C'mere!"
Evan rolled his eyes. "Get in the car," he said to Poppy. "I'll be there in a moment." He walked over to Miles. "What?"
"Why you gotta be so stiff?" he asked, poking him roughly in the stomach. "You seem like a major ass."
Francis mumbled something to Miles, and he put his hand on his shoulder heavily. "Do you put your hands on your girlfriend?"
Miles raised an eyebrow before shutting the door and turning to Francis. "He's mean." "I know." "I need cereal."
