Class Dismissed (One-on-One)

"Maybe not," she said, shrugging. The topic clearly made her uncomfortable. "But he said he wouldn't do it again."

 

"I do," she said stubbornly.

 

They worked in silence for a while before Poppy affixed two of the phalanges together.

"Check it out!" she said cheerfully. "They work."

 

"Oh, ye of little faith," Poppy said, shaking her head. "Did you ever have any doubt?"

 

"Trust me," she said plainly, looking up at him. "Have I ever led you wrong?"

 

"I gave you the address to my house," she pointed out. "That got you to the right place, didn't it?"

 

"Would you have found my house without me giving you my address?"

 

She frowned at him.

"Let me have this."

 

"Thank you," she said curtly, although there was amusement in her voice. She glanced up as the bell rang, and began to put her stuff in her bag.

"I'll see you after school, then?"

 

"I'll text you the address," she said. "I have to find a place with a kiln first."
