Her brow furrowed, and she looked away from the scope, her gaze landing lightly on him. "Oh," she said with an expression of concern. "I'm sorry." She paused and then wrinkled her nose. "Also, sorry for apologizing to express sympathy. I know you don't like that."
"Still," she said, returning to her microscope but still speaking thoughtfully. "I know how tough it is to end a bad relationship." She paused and then laughed lightly, raising her bandaged hand. "Obviously."
"Your loss," Poppy replied with a shrug. "I'll have you know that eternal loneliness is actually enjoyable. Let me know if you change your mind."
She squinted at him teasingly before returning to the beaker, filling a syringe with the substance. "Let me live my life, Craw."
"Well, I think I'm going to grab some sort of meat or something and test to see if it binds together at all. If it does, then I can start testing its effectiveness against blood flow."
"Various things," she said with a shrug. "Lots of salves, and lots of things for when people fall out of trees." She cleared her throat and rubbed the back of her neck. "Which I would know nothing about, of course."
She squinted at him, but there was a slight smile on her face. "First you have problems with my decision to never get into a relationship again, and now you don't want me to climb trees? Let me live, Craw!"
