She laughed, her nose crinkling with the action. "Come now, Craw. You have to admit that you can be a little... standoffish."
She laughed lightly when she spoke, her voice warm. "It's not a bad thing, Francis. You can't help it."
"Not always," she said. "You don't have to deal with annoying people, for one thing. And it makes it cool to be your friend; I mean, if someone continues to talk to you despite being intimidated, they must really want to connect with you, right?"
She laughed, although there was a slight pink tinge to her cheeks. "If I recall correctly, you pursued my company," she said. "I didn't ask you to help me with Evan."
She looked up at him, and her expression was stern. "People didn't help," she said quietly. "People saw, and they didn't help."
"They just... didn't," she said, looking down at her fingers. "Either they were scared of Evan physically, or they worried that he would ruin their reputation..." She paused and shrugged.
"I get it," she said. "You saw more than most people did. They would just see him shaking me or something. It's fine."
