She pushed her hair behind her ear distractedly, not meeting his gaze. "Yes, well.. It's over now, at least."
She shifted, obviously uncomfortable, her brow furrowed. She cleared her throat and changed the subject. "Anyway. Are you hungry?"
She slipped on the branch, but caught herself quickly. "I'm not sure. My father doesn't want me going to school while Evan's there, but..." She sighed. "I don't know. It feels cowardly to hide from him."
He instinctively reached to grab her arm, though his grip is gentle. He pulled away after realizing she caught herself. "Right.."
She looked up at him with one brow raised before continuing down the tree, her hair hiding her flushed cheeks. "Ahem. I think I will come tomorrow. Might as well get it over with."
"For promising to be okay?" she asked, landing on the ground. "You're welcome." She turned to look at him with a cheeky grin. "I guess."
