He cocked his head. "Francis, I don't like you, but I have to warn you about her. Poppy is insane. Literally. I think she needs help. When we were together, she told me that you tried to kiss her. That's why I was so pissed at you. She's delusional."
"She's telling everyone that I hit her, Francis," Evan said, frustrated. "Do you know what could happen to me if that kind of false rumor got out? I never laid a hand on her."
"You're awfully loyal to a girl you barely know," he said, frowning at him. "Do you like her or something?"
"You shouldn't trust her," he said, shaking his head. "She's crazy. Trust me. She has no model for how a relationship is supposed to work, after all."
Evan shrugged and started to walk away. "Think what you want. But I'll tell you what, I wouldn't be surprised if I did that whole fire thing wasn't an accident."
Evan turned, a wicked grin on his face. "Oh, did she never tell you? I'm surprised you haven't heard about it by now."
