Actually, furries dont even have to dress up to be a considered a furry. It's generally anyone who enjoys the art on a deeper level than most people would.
In that case I guess I must be a furry since I enjoy looking at adorable pictures of ponies. But I am not into rule 34. Anyway I have nothing against furries. I just don't like being falsely labelled as one. This is mostly the fault of a lack of critical thinking amounst the majority of the population. They don't like to think for themselves, they just like to accept the first thing they hear as the absolute truth and are too lazy to consider if it makes sense or not.
Furry art is basically full on anthromorphic animals which the majority of pony art is not. You do have some pony art that might be crossed over furry art but most of it isn't. Someone can look at furry art and not be considered a furry much like you can like pony art but not be a brony. Of course it's late and my benedryl is kicking in. I'm not sure my post makes any sense but it's the best I could muster up in this state of mind. If my previous post came across as such, I meant no offense by it.
As long as you feel comfortable watching it like this then it should be fine. *hugs* Nice job, I thought that presentation would have some influence on your classmates. I see, I was just explaining my view of furries and I've honestly never met a single one who had never spoken of their sexual attraction to anthropomorphic creatures. I don't want to say they all do that though, I've just found a good bit make is sexualized rather than a... hobby? I dunno, but I still stand by my thought that most bronies are not furries, except for the for some of us which have Rule 34 views. Some nice brony told us about his day and it seems his best friends teased him and called him a furry. I realize this, but the majority I've seen and spoken to seem to always sexualize it, not that it's a bad thing, but I've seen a large portion of them sexualize it. That's possibly because I use to only meet them on deviantART XD A site known for it's large production of fetish artwork.
...Maybe I shouldn't have brought up the whole furry thing. Oh well. If you guys have a problem with me being a furry, that's fine. ePONYmous is right. It actually kind of hurts to see people commonly associate both furries and bronies to be sexual predators... Just because I'm a furry doesn't mean I'm part of the "*squee!*y" community. That's just disgusting to me how many people actually like that. People have their right to see what they want to see but... having other people hate others just because of a minority really is starting to tick me off.
Well, I really like furries, and all anime at that ^_^ I also agree with the above posts... the thing about people is that too many like being judgemental, often using untrue stereotypes to elevate their ego and give themselves people to look down upon... Maybe I'm being that way a bit myself, by saying that though. But I just don't like hiding my true self as a brony, furry, etc.... Admittedly I have though... but all shall be fixed in my life with that eventually. I'm working on it, at least ^_^
Nothing wrong with furries. I also see no issues with *squee!*ing either. To each their own. As long as someone doesn't try to push something on me, I could care less what other people do. Oh, no. It's not just this. It's something I picked up on a while ago before becoming part of the community. It started not long after this subculture was formed. I kept seeing bronies = furry posts on various forums. There was even a recent thread on another set of forums I use about bronies and we were called furries again there. It's not really fair for either community
Well, I've noticed that this is now a discussion about furries. Sorry for changing the subject, everypony.
I'm not sure if you'd consider me closeted or not. I've told the two people that mean the most to me, and they know I'm a little on the weird side, so they didn't care - in fact, my wife (one of those two) is now a brony. The other - I doubt she'll ever become a brony. As far as other people are concerned, well, if anyone notices my Pinkie Pie wallpaper on my phone, I'll be happy to explain it to them, but I don't go around announcing it. I do use phrases, as I've mentioned before, and once I mentioned to my boss, a Doctor Who fan, about Doctor Whooves, but beyond that, nah. As far as furries is concerned, I guess you'd say I'm a furry - I've always enjoyed anthropomorphic animals. There's something that intrigues me about an animal that is pretty much human. Not sure how to explain it. I guess it dates back to the days when I wished I could talk to my pets. But I wouldn't bother dressing up, and I'm not interested in *squee!*y art.
I have no problem with you being a Furry even if you are a '*squee!*y'. I don't care. Just like I don't care if people are gay. But I would still avoid and be uncomfortable seeing guys kiss. I also avoid rule 34. I am surprised honestly that I have yet to accidently stumble across a rule 34 with ponies. I have stumbled across other animal cartoon characters in rule 34 though. I am thankful that rule 34 artists are respectful enough to keep it to themselves.
Every time I try to google pictures of a pony, there's always that little "Rule 34" option in the quicksearch thing. I've never clicked it, and I never plan to.
Boocloset! I was a bit afraid to tell anyone for about two weeks. After that I decided that if people don't want to have anything to do with me because I like a cartoon, they don't really need to have anything to do with my life. I love ponies not only for the awesomeness of the show, but the love and fellowship of all fellow bronies. My wife accepts the ponies in moderation, and my 4yo daughter thinks I'm the coolest dad in the entire world, except when I stole the Spike that came in her balloon play set. But atleast I have somepony who'll sit with me and watch the awesomeness, no matter what.
Don't worry! XD It'll get back on track soon. That's cool dude, I'm glad both you and your wife can enjoy the show together, must be pretty awesome. That's really cool, dude. :] It really is, I applaud you for this. *hugs*
Hey, brother, I'm a correctional officer, and I work in a large prison. I go to work every day with a laminated cutout of Rarity at the pull tab on my lunch box. When I say I'm dedicated, I'm dedicated.
Well I told everyone I know, but somehow my grandmother missed all of that. She just found out and just assumes I'm gay and that I'm the only person in the entire world who watches the show. That was fun trying to explain to her, at least my brother helped, instead of making things more difficult.
I was happily gibbering away to my mother about fim today, telling her all about the plushies I wanted and was told they wouldnt go with my new gothic themed bedroom "I dont care I still want them" ;D
