Try being loving and understanding when you have to work 5 days a week with a /b/tard. Oh it is so much fun. It's a war, hate vs friendship.

I'm trying to make people aware i'm a fan of the show - mainly my friends and family - but it's hard. A friend watched it before me, and then I started watching it and half way through it, I introduced it to my siblings ( 8 year old bro, 7 year old sis ) who loved it and watched it all within 2 days ( still checking out remixes and stuff ). So i'm not hiding the fact that I know of it, and am not hiding the fact that I know the names of everything involved, I still find it hard to openly admit I like it ( though ive not yet been directly asked ) and I'm still not 100% sure how to justify liking it. Also a pain how I can't find the confidence to browse anything pony related unless it's night incase someone catches me. Though Pinkie Pie is my facebook and skype pic so meh.

I have T-shirts on the way as I don't want to hide it, but I also don't know if I'd be able to deal with public morons. With college starting again soon in a new department, I have no idea if it will be for the best to wear them. On the other hand i'm working on converting 2 other friends ( made them watch the pilot eps today ) and 1 seemed to like it, the other....I think will like it if he gives a few more episodes a chance. And i'm sure my older bro would like it but I don't want to shove it down his throat so i'm kind of keeping it a secret from him. Kinda not though as he seems to have noticed the likes on my youtube channel, but he doesn't mention it at all.

How do you explain to people who have never herd of the show, that your a fan of it though? Regardless of wether it's ponies, it's still a cartoon. Being in the UK it's really underground, especially in the midlands =/.

Oh man. I know how you feel on this one. I used to frequent 4chan years ago for reasons I don't quite understand myself. In any case, around this time last year, I found out one of the employees where I work was a /b/tard. He ended up getting into a fight with someone else (nothing physical) and I was forced to write him up. A few days afterwards, he called someone a "*squee!*" in front of one of the other managers who happened to be gay and well, he didn't have a job for too long after that. I never liked /b/ all that much for obvious reasons but I did learn how to troll there. I'm also convinced that not all of the lurkers in /b/ are jerks. But for the most part, they're hateful beings. Never really a fan of that subculture.

Possibly. I do understand about a hostile work environment, though. I work in a prison and get stupid comments here and there by other officersand staff, but I'm not too worried about it. As I said in another thread, I've got a little laminated cutout of Rarity at the pull tab on my lunch box, so that gets some attention, but I just have to tell myself that hater are gonna hate regardless, and some people in the world aren't happy unless they are making someone else unhappy. We have to band together and stay strong for everypony who isn't comfortable being open with it. Anypony who has to hide their love for the show has my utmost respect, and you never know, maybe those of us who have departed the stable can help out our bronies in need. I'd like to extend a hoof to anypony who wants and/or needs to get things off their chest, or just to talk about the things I myself have dealt with.

I only tell certain people that I like the show. I've only told two friends. My brother and my mom both found out recently, neither of them seem to care.

You can't force someone to do anything in general, they are still the one to choose whether or not to do that.

However, that doesn't mean pressure is a good thing to put upon people, though. ^^"

Just be the bigger person and stay with the brony way of Love and Tolerance. :]

Yeah, I've heard the show is a tad underground in the UK, but I also believe there is a good bit of UK bronies on here :3 You should try to meet some ig you haven't yet.

I'm really happy to hear we have such an open and proud brony on our forum, it's bronies like you that we should all look up to, I commend you. *brohoof*

Well, that's good (I'm assuming), I hope you get more and more comfortable about revealing your love of the show to others in the future :]

I've told nobody, sadly. If I do, I would tell my best friend, even though he is strictly anti-brony. I think he knows I like it, but I don't know.

To each their own. At least we all have each other, and you can't ask for a better friend than a brony.

I'm too energetic for my own good. Once I found out about the ponies, I took my laptop out of it's charger and ran around the house, showing my family members the return of the ponies. :>

I kept it a secret from my friends for a while until one of them said he was brony. =w=

Welp, thought this was worth sharing and I didn't feel like starting a whole new thread for it.

I had a slip up at work today. I'm pretty sarcastic and witty by nature. Basically, I was in the kitchen and whenever food was called, I had to cook it (it's McDonald's. We mass produce food.). We started getting busy and as more and more food was requested, I kept up with my remarks and "complaints". The lady I work with knows only joke so she turns to me and tells me to stop whining. This is a sign I've been watching ponies too much I think. I look at her and dropped that epic Rarity line. She stopped what she was doing, looked at me and laughed. She has a granddaughter around 6 years old. She replied "Yeah, I liked that episode too.". She said she watches it from time to time with her grandchild.

I've always been "casually overt" as my brother slipped in while I was watching it a few times and I'll wear clothing. This did it for me however with work. It might help that I'm a manager and I have the ability to get folks in hot water but I got no slag for it.

I'm a very open brony. My family knows that I like ponies (there's 4 of them on my table right now, and it's on plain view). My mom thinks they're cute. My brother thinks it's a bit awkward, but says nothing more. (Nether of them knows about the show... yet).

Some people at my work knows that I like MLP (keep drawing them on free time). They don't say anything.

I did have one last thing left until I was fully out. That was my housemates, I hate them and so I would not even want them to know about it. So I would not leave my room with my fluttershy shirt on. But I accidently forgot to chance my shirt and walked into the living room with most of them there. They didn't make a single comment.\

Well they still don't know about the show, they probably had no idea what the shirt was and the girly colours on it aren't too prominent.

Well I guess I will be able to wear whatever I want in the house.

I've told a couple of my friends that I'm a brony (and made them into bronies as well). I think a few other friends know that I am, but I haven't told any member of my family. Maybe once i get some MLP shirts I will tell them what they will already know.

    That's a cool story, dude.

That's really cool, dude :3 I'm happy to hear you can be so open with your brony-ness!

I'm glad to hear that you feel like you can now wear these shirts around your house whenever now, but I don't think you should worry so much about your housemates teasing you. ^^"

That sounds cool dude, but make sure not to do anything you're uncomfortable with!

None of my friends know, and that's just the way its gotta stay. I don't see any reason to go out of my way to tell my family either.

As far as what got me into it, well one day while surfing Failbook I happened to come across this: http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/4246/mylittleponyfriendshipib.jpg

This led me to check out the brony section of cheezburger and from there I decided to see what all the fuss was about. After the first few episodes I couldn't stop watching.

Thank you for digging this thread back up, I'm happy to see it back on the front of this section of the forum again. Anyway, I can really relate to keeping this quiet in my home life too, I have like five other people living in this house with me.

That's an interesting story, mine wasn't as simple as your though XD
