Root looked around, wIth an eyebrow raised. "I think I'm your only 'felinoid' customer." She then listened in on the conversation again. "I'm not even here for the service anymore. These weirdos are great entertainment." She snickered, "They're odd ones for sure."
"The one and the same." He downed the rest of his vodka, before giving a small chuckle. "Though, I'm not sure what number 'reincarnation' we're on now considering how long the Saints have been in service."
Just to mess with Root, Asmo had taken on her appearance. Deo rolled his eyes and said, "Ignore him. Anyway, I must confess that I always thought the Greek gods to be mythology. But I can tell you are being truthful."
"Greek?" Ryh asked. He wasn't entirely certain who the Greeks were, nor was he familiar with Athena. Whatever she was, she must be an uncommon diety.
"The Ancient Greeks," Deo explained, "were a polytheistic civilization who existed thousands of years ago on my home planet. Among the deities they worshipped were Zeus, king of the gods, Ares, the god of war, and Athena, goddess of wisdom." Asmo shifted in his seat ever so slightly, moving his (pirated) cloak and revealing a glimpse of four jagged scars, clearly from lacerations, going down his left side, which were not present on Root.
"Now, how far away is Earth?" he asked, "I presume fairly far since I rarely get visitors from there."
"Between here and the Milky Way, I would say twenty-three million light years." He thought for a split second. "Give or take four.
"Well, my place of work has sites everywhere. I merely happened to be at a site that is relatively close earlier today." Deo scratched his head. "That reminds me, Asmodeus: What are you doing here?" "I got bored, went down the hole, came here for a little bit." His voice hadn't shifted completely to match his new form.
Looking over at Deo, he chuckled. "It's a pretty select group that knows of the Goddess... Just us Saints and a group of others. If the world as a whole knew about the truth... It would be hard for us Saints to do our job discretely there."
Deo said, "We research strange things and creatures. Unfortunately, I would have to acquire permission before telling you more."
Asmo spoke, "I'll be honest, I don't really know much about this place's religions. There's so many it's hard to keep track. Do you do any rituals in her name?"
"I'm not really allowed to go over such details either, because it's Saint-only stuff. My apologies." He rubbed the back of his neck turning towards the Bartender. "Can I get another glass?"
"I can certainly relate to that. However something about you is," Deo took a second to find the right word. "...unusual. Even compared to some of the other customers. You are a very young man, but I can see that you are battle-hardened and skilled beyond your years. You must have either been raised to fight, like the Spartans, or been trained by some of the best warriors in the universe."
