"Can't really say that you would be older or younger then me, we both look like that we are in our thirties. Barbara: It happened to me when I was 25. ------ Abbey: life in a vault huh? It sounds like my home in the sense it was underground but mine was a sewer. It always smelt horrible down there, but it was safe and we rarely had to worry about raiders.
"Really? I'm 38, although I've been doing this stuff for about 25 years. Training was brutal, and my father was not a forgiving teacher, but I appreciate what he's done for me." Damien responded. "Although, I was one of the lucky ones in my old squad. But that's another story" ------------- "I never went outside until 2277. The Vault had a school, diner and all sorts of things." Taylor said. "But...it was a dictatorship. You got on the wrong side of the overseer, and you are in trouble. At least you guys had some level of freedom."
Barbara: Who's story are we learning about here? I don't wanna hear how daddy trained you to kill for a broken cause. ---------- Abbey: I left home when I was 16 as I knew there was a life for me out here in the wastes. Didn't know that I'd have probably been better off not leaving, as the life of an assassin wasn't all I was hoping for.

Barbara: Before what? Before "it" happened I assume? ----- Abbey: I'd read a lot of comics and fantasy stories when I was younger and took great interest in the characters who weren't quite heroes and that weren't the villans. Anti-heroes I believe they're called. They were people who did things for themselves and were their own boss. They had fame, riches and the freedom that working for you and only you had
Barbara: It started in the year 2066. I was only 23 but had managed to attain several degrees in physics, biology and science in the 5 short years I was at university. I had the mentality at the time that if I could get a job in one of the bigger companies involved in something like the army or production of the vaults that I could get to safety if it ever went to s***.
Barbara: yep. Now If I may be allowed to continue. I'd crippled myself going to university and getting all those degrees. Never made time for friends... or family... or sometimes to even to eat or drink. Getting those grades and getting that job meant so much to me because I wanted to be sure I was going to live through the apocalypse. If it ever happened that was.
"And it did, eleven years later. You must have slowed down your biological ageing with chemicals that affected your "body clock." I could be wrong though, but anyway..." Damien said to Barbara, allowing her to continue. Damien was lucky enough to have received an education. Schools were open in the NCR, although they were only for the obscenely wealthy since the education system in the NCR had to be completely rebuilt from scratch, filling in the gap the Followers of the Apocalypse once had. Since Damien's father was the Mayor of Arroyo, he was given a decent education until he was 13. Although he had to leave school early, he was by no means an idiot. He had an IQ of 145.

I knew that having a well paid job would either buy my way into a vault or a government bunker ----- Abbey: after I left home I went to rivet city. It was a fair few days walk from where I lived in the capitol wastes but it was a good opportunity to put my trigger finger to practice on the local raiders. With some caps together from selling off the belongings of the raiders to the various merchants in rivet city, I then set about finding a weapon of my liking and set up as an assassin.

Catherine was originally his mother but she left six weeks after Damien was born for some reason and vanished to the East Coast, who would later meet James and then have Taylor. At the end of Fallout 2, you save Arroyo with the GECK and the Chosen One becomes the leader of Arroyo for the rest of his days.) "What happened next?" I lived inside Vault 101, got the best education and aced every subject, learnt how to hack terminals and so forth. By the time that I left to see the wastes, I could back get into about anything. Although, not like I needed it anyway sometimes. My first experience with raiders nearly got me killed, I thought they were friendly when I got to an old school they were camping in, not like my naive little Vault brain could know that."
(Ahhh. So that'd make Taylor his half sister then c: ) Barbara: Well, after university I joined the Institute of Science and technology, which was kinda like the NCR's OSI but it was more about using science to help further our understanding of the world around us and how it worked. Like what makes a human body tick, how can we lower radiation levels in disposal sites to safe levels. Basic stuff like that. It was all to help improve the human condition at the end of the day. --------------- Abbey: They didn't teach you that in the vault? I'd have thought they would given that they're meant to open up after so long. Then again, I'm not very knowledgeable regarding the vaults so I don't really know what went on in there.
"They never taught us any of that. My vault, 101, was never supposed to open once it was sealed shut. Didn't help that my Overseer was a paranoid tyrant. But anyway..." Taylor told Abbey. "Once I left the Vault, I learnt about the other vaults. Each of them had some social experiment of some sort, few of them actually saved people. Some government thing....speaking about the government." The Lone Wander then turned to the Ghoul standing alone in the corner. "You were the Director of the CIA for five years, you should have known about the vaults. You could have saved lives....but you let them die, you couldn't stop it. Why?" Edward remained silent before looking at Taylor and the rest of the group. "Even for a man in that position, I couldn't stop it. There was enough Red Tape around Project: Safehouse that it could sink a battleship. In the final days before the Great War, nobody in a high position could speak up about it, nor escape what had become a police state. Otherwise..." Edward then made an action with his hands to signalled a gunshot. "Uncle Sam never really had any power at that point, he was just a puppet. At this point, the people who would become the Enclave ruled America in the shadows. He tried to cut the strings, to at least regain his dignity. He was assassinated 23 hours before the Great War by a Chinese sympathiser, although it was actually...one of our own. Enclave assassin. He was sniped from a rooftop while was delivering a speech to the crowd. He was a friend of mine. "President Samuel Armstrong, 55th President of the United States. Also known as 'Uncle Sam'." Taylor said to the Ghoul. "The most popular US President in History, I can't imagine what would have happened on the Final Day. I'm sorry." "It's alright. He tried to save America, but he watched her die instead."
Barbara: I spent 3 years at the institute and became quite a prominent member of the organisation. So much so that it took the interest of the US government. One day at home a man in a suit asked if he could come in and talk about my future. He showed me his badge, came on in, next thing you know I'm working for a special branch of the government. I was working alongside other scientists with the big projects like project safehouse and project nova
"The Vaults could had actually saved lives were they not used for experiments that Vault-Tec liked to do. If all of them opened about twenty years after the war and if they each had a GECK, then things would be different." Damien said to Barbara. "Although, I've never heard of Project:Nova. Edward would know, he likely approved the damn thing. What was that about?"
Barbara: biological weapons research. Bombs loaded with chemicals and viruses that would kill America's enemies in one fell swoop. It'd have made the atom bombs redundant 'cause as soon as the population was slaughtered by the bio bomb, America could just waltz on in with their haz-mat suits, quickly clean up the mess then claim the place and it's resources for themselves. When I look back on it, I wonder how I could live with myself knowing that I was making WMDs for a government that was turning more and more fascist by the month and how I could open up all those body bags and calmly examine what effects the most recent batch of bio chems had done to this poor subject.
