"I like to call it a crusade, a one-man crusade against an entire country. Within four years , I've killed almost 30,000 Legionaries and crippled the Legion in some areas. I work for myself, I was already on the Legions list just before the First Battle of Hoover Dam because they seen me as a threat, so undercover is out of the question. Besides, I like them to know that I'm coming." Damien replied. "Not a member of the Legion and formerly from the NCR despite that I still have citizenship. I also happen to be perfectly fluent in Latin in my travels in the Legion." Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
John: that's mighty noble of you, goin' up against them all by yourself. Abbey: more like mighty stupid... Jenny: (finishes looting through the bodies) ooh these guys had a lot of their money on them. hey, do you wanna come with us? We're heading up to see some friends. They might have something to help you against the Legion.
Jenny: Awesome Will: Next stop Novac! John: (takes A long hard swig out of his whiskey bottle) (Thinks- God I hate it when they get exited like this -_-) So with that, the group and their new ally made haste for Novac. (on the way to Novac) Abbey: (to damien) hey, that's not a bad rifle you've got there sugar. (Abbey uses the YCS/186 and normally carries it on her back. I know it's a special and it's a gun that the courier can pick up, but it's not like it's canon that they pick it up.)
"It's a heavily modified DKS-308 Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle. I've done multiple modifications to this rifle. It weighs about half of what a normal rifle of this kind would be, it's much durable and reliable when things decide to get rough and it's silenced. This isn't even my weapon of choice, it's just something I built when I was in Colorado." Damien replied. "Speaking of which, my home is located relatively close to Westside but it's located on the cliffs. Very heavily protected by the way, I've installed enough turrets to wipe out a small army."
Abbey: So you like to do things low key to huh? That makes both of us and Jen. This gun I have here (points to the YCS/186 on her back) I liberated from a mercenary who's number was up. He made it more efficient, durable and powerful by adding more coils to the barrel. Will: dude, you say you have turrets around your home? That's so cool! Maybe if we ever go to your place I could figure out how to make them more efficient. John: you idiot! Don't get tellin' him that! Will: what is it now you ol' coot? Jenny: Leave it you two, you can have your little cat fight when we haven't got a guest with us.
"The power huh?" He responded. "Well, take a suit of T-51b Power Armor that the Brotherhood of Steel wears, apparently the strongest armor that mankind made before we were nearly destroyed, and it just rips it to ribbons. The power is not only immense due to the modifications I've made, but it kills the strongest Deathclaws in a single shot, and relatively clean as well. I've equipped it with a scope, reduced some of it's weight and some other modifications. I've also made it ridiculous durable, you could drop a bomb on this thing, drag it across the mud or sand and it will never jam or break. The only problem is that it can't be silenced. I've even managed to switch the rare ammo that it usually requires to something far more common, so ammunition is not a problem. It's a Brush Gun that I've had since my first days in the Rangers." "And those turrets....I've had plenty of free time on my hands."
Abbey: Yeah, but you've got to admit, with a bullet this big (takes out a round for a Gauss rifle) and with the energy behind it that it has, it could probably destroy T51-b armor twice over with one shot.
"I agree with the Gauss Rifles, but I always tend to conserve ammo whenever possible. I prefer doing things the old fashioned way, but I'm also trained with Energy Weapons." Damien said before looking at his rifle. "Oh, one other thing. I'm a Legion magnet, I have a bounty that is worth hundreds of thousands of caps. So if the Legion has the idea of coming after me...well, you know the rest."
Jenny: (overheard the part about legion bounty) Don't worry, if the legion come we'll help give them hell. The remainder the trip passed quickly as Novac wasn't too far away from where they were. It is there that a convoy of old world military trucks were parked up in the small open area on the east of the town leading to the REPPCON test site. The trucks were scattered around with people who looked like old world soldiers either maintaining some of the trucks, cleaning their guns or relaxingby playing games or enjoying the sunshine. A lot of the soldiers themselves wore mostly wore merc grunt outfits with light combat helmets while some wore advanced armor.
Damien watched from a hill as he observed the scene, his lifetime of training in stealth being put to good use. From the ground, Damien would have practically been invisible. He looked at the scene, not needing binoculars to see what's going on the ground. "Well...they don't appear to be a threat. They seem to be enjoying themselves actually." Damien replied before looking at the others. "What do you think?" Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Jenny: well of course they aren't a threat, they're the friends we've come to meet. They're the Vets. One of the best mercenary groups in the region. Abbey: don't worry, they have a "don't shoot unless shot at" policy. Being mercs, they're always looking to do business with potential customers. Jenny: c'mon let's go meet em c: The group moves from the hill down to the area where the Vets are posted. As they arrive a voice calls from by one of the trucks). (???): Jenny! The voice came from a black haired girl wearing a merc grunt outfit, bandana and authority glasses Jenny: sandy! how's it rollin'? Sandy: not too bad. I think the NCR are starting to realise that it's cheaper to hire mercs for one job than it is to keep paying their army for what little their doing right now. Jenny: ain't that the truth. Sandy jumps off the front of the truck she was sat on) Sandy: hiya Will! (hugs Will) Still wearing the powered sardine tin huh? Will: he'll yeah Sand. Oh and thanks for the LMG upgrade. Sandy: no probs big guy! > (Sandy greets Abbey then gives her some caps as thanks for getting rid of one of her troubles. She then greets John and moves back to Jenny) Sandy: c'mon, you guys look like you could use some food. Sandy starts taking the guys to a makeshift eating area. As they walk to it some of the mercs quickly stop what their doing to quickly glance at the 5 to see who they were. they were mostly curious of Damien as they didn't know who he was or why he was there.
Damien walked past the group of mercs, all eyes seemed to be focusing on him. Every now and then, one of them would talk about a 'Demon' and just exactly who Damien happened to be. Whatever the reason, many of the Vets seemed to realize that they would rather fight a foe like the Legion or even Super Mutants instead of having to fight Damien.
Sandy: who's the new guy? Jenny: he's Damien. He killed a bunch of Legion guys who were following us on the way here Sandy: Hmmph, I like 'em already. Jenny: I'll introduce you c: Hey Damien. (Damien Goes up to Jenny and Sandy) Jenny: this is Sandy, she's the head of the Vets here in the Mojave Sandy: Jenny was just telling me about how you killed some Legion ******** on the way here.
"I've done more than just kill a bunch....I've killed about 30,000 of then within four years by myself." Damien replied back in a joking manner. "I'm Damien Winters, "Demon of the West" and a former MOCKINGBIRD operative of the NCR Rangers. Pleasure to meet you." Once Damien introduced himself, there was some shock from some of the vets. "The Demon of the West" was literally standing a few feet away from them. Damien, a man who walked across the Legion and killed as many Legionaries as he could, held a calm expression on his face. Infamous, legendary and a one man army. None of these could truly describe exactly how dangerous Damien truly was in combat. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
"Ranger at 13 actually, my father knew plenty of figures in the NCR. He trained me every day and night that would make Ranger training look pathetic in comparison. When I had to display myself at Shady Sands in 2256, Chief Elise and various military figures wanted me to fight ten captured Brotherhood POWs to the death in unarmed combat to actually prove my worth. I killed four before they called the fight off, they were shocked about my abilities, saying that I'm superhuman." Damien responded. "I was in the Rangers for over 20 years, I retired in 2276." Sandy: That's quite the story. Sandy thinks poorly of the daddy training his son thing and killing brotherhood POWs but chooses to keep her opinions to herself because of Damien being new to her. Sandy: Oh Jenny, got that thing I wanted? Jenny: you bet! (gives her a box labelled AR internals MKII) Sandy: awesome!
While it didn't seem particularly normal at all when it came to a family relationship, Damien's father was an now elder hero that saved the American Southwest. His father trained him to not only to be a good person, but to be able to protect those less fortunate than he was. It was the reason that he was trained in intense physical combat training since he could walk. Damien sat back while Jenny and Sandy spoke to each other, noticing a box being passed to each other.
Sandy: I'll get these to the gun runners ASAP. (puts the components in a duffel bag) need to see them anyway, The commandos are gettin' antsy because our shipment of 5mm ammo is late. (Sandy and Jenny go off to talk about things) A young looking male Vet wearing reading glasses and a helmet comes up to Damien. (???) hey... Are you the NCR ranger everyone's talking about?
